@PaperIdentity @soundsbycoop Private sector is contracted by the city a lot of times. Unless it's an off street lot then it depends, sometimes it can still be the city though. If they're charging tho it means you're in a desirable area. No one loves paying to park but cars are a nuisance not a human right.

You are not entitled to free parking at your destination! There is a finite amount of space and cars take up a lot of it sitting in paved lots. It's pretty reasonable when you consider car ownership and driving isn't a right it's a privilege.
