2 REAL STORIES ON THIS. 1ST STORY- The man (same age and from the same village with my dad) that married my mom's immediate younger sister was schooling in Hungary on a govt scholarship. He read medicine and surgery, graduated well. This was between 1978 and 1985. After graduation, probably worked a little in Hungary (don't really know). But shortly after graduation, this man decided to come home to Nigeria. The white woman he was dating begged him, promised him heaven and earth to stay in her country, he refused. She told him there was better potentials there and that he should give himself like 5 years, he would a well known doctor as he was extremely bright. He refused and came to Nigeria. He still went to practice his craft here with the Bayelsa state govt and retired well few years ago. Once I asked him if he regretted returning to Naija, he didn't answer me well, but he said he would have probably be a household name in Hungary. Then he told me something very strange. That after graduation, he started hearing his mum's voice regularly calling him to return home. It was too much that he had to quietly return. After he returned, he didn't hear that voice again till today. I took his answer for a NO. He probably is regretting inside. He got married in 1988, had his first child and gave her the name of his then girlfriend in Hungary. 2ND STORY This is my mum's eldest sibling. Also got a scholarship and went to study Economics on North Carolina, USA. This one graduated top of his class. His grade was so high that they have him an image of himself - that kind of image in awards ceremony like Oscar awards. Still in my village today. This man returned to Nigeria in 1980 to get his younger set to also travel and school with him in the same school (they were only 2 boys among 8 kids in my mum's family), he came with this crafted image and that's it. They both returned to USA and the younger one who wanted medicine was given physics to study as the school felt he didn't school in USA in his high school and needed to know somethings first. After sometimes, my uncle started complaining of serious stomach pains and the fear came into him that if he died over there, it would not be OK. Home was the best choice to die. Tests were ran, nothing came out.. Doctors couldn't see anything, the complain increased. The younger one hasn't settled properly in USA when the elder one started beating drum of returning to Naija. Because of his popularity within the black community, on and off school, the blacks students begged this man, his younger one was begging him to stay and support him financially till he graduated and enter to study his medicine, the black lecturers were begging him to stay, but nothing worked. It will interest you to know that at this stage after graduation, 29 companies were calling this man to come and work, he refused ALL. The younger brother was devastated. He flew down to Naija in 1988. He went straight to meet his in-law in Story to do the surgery. That one saw nothing. All of a sudden, the pain stopped. He went on to pick a teaching Job, later got sacked for an error he knew nothing about. To cut the story short, he decided to relocate to the village. What used to be a promising future got destroyed. The younger one went on to graduate, worked, went back to school For his medicine in Guyana, since it was cheaper than in USA, settled in the Caribbean and doing extremely well today. We lost contact with him for over 2 decades only to be connected back in 2005 through divine intervention.

My brother was on a fully funded MSc scholarship in Chemical Engineering in South Korea in 2019, with a good stipend and a bright future ahead of him. Before he returned to Nigeria, his Korean professor advised him to stay back and do business with him. His friends in Korea also begged him not to leave, but he didn't listen. He believed hard work and merit would be enough to succeed back in Nigeria. He now works with a government agency and takes home less than ₦400,000 after tax. He still cries whenever he remembers that decision. Last year, he even tried to relocate to the US, but his visa application was denied. Sometimes, opportunities don't come twice, and good intentions alone are not enough to guarantee a good outcome.

I saw my former tailor today that borrowed ₦150,000 from me in 2023. After collecting the money, she paid just ₦20,000 and disappeared. My Childhood friend in Scotland suddenly came to Naija and appeared at my door one evening. I was shocked seeing him because before he travels most times he would notify me. When I asked him whats up? He replied that he came to see a girl's family he wants to settle down with and he was so keen getting married that year, this was 2021. Asked about the babe and he told me she was in unilag final year. He met her the last time he was in Naija and they have been chatting ever since. In all his storyline, I felt something wasn't clicking but couldn't point it out. My only advice was why not get a baby over there in the uk and settle down? One excuse or the other. After he left that day, we spoke more on phone and within 2 weeks he was back to in the UK. Like 2 months after, he called and said "its like your advice to settle with a UK babe is good oh". I asked wetin happen? Guy man said his mum went to see this babe's people on their home at Jakande Isolo and the parents of the girl told his mum that my guy would settle all the bills. They just kept talking about money, money and more money to do this and that. My guy's mum is daughter of the soil, so her eyes are really opened to the silent things people aren't seeing. She just kept nodding her head all through. Immediately it was over, even before she walked to her car, she already sent a chat to her son with this same exact words, "Omo mi, this family will never be my In-laws, face front in UK". My guy understood and they talked later. He called the girl afterwards and ended things with her. This girl legit told my guy in pidgin that "many richer men de outside and they Will come for her". My guy shocked! Exactly 8 months later, he called me and said he was married in the UK to a lady he met at a seminar and less than 20 people were in attendance. Wife's parents were based in UK and he invited only a friend whom he met while running his masters there. Simple wedding, less expenses. Wedding was more like a dinner gathering. On Monday this week, on my way to work, someone tapped me from behind in the bus I boarded. I turned and saw a friend to my guy's ex. We exchanged some pleasantries and after we got down, we talked for about 10 mins. Asked about my guy, I told her he's been married for almost 6 years now. I Asked if her friend didn't tell her? She said no and that the ex blocked my guy ever since. As we got talking, she dropped a bomb. Those people she presented as parents weren't hers, not even related. They were in business to milk and dump. Her real parents were somewhere in Osun state. My mouth open for like 3 minutes, words no come out.

Everytime my cousin, Jason gets chastised by his parents, he calls the cops on them. He tells the cops that they want to end him on top small spanking o. When he finished basic 6, his parents sent him to Nigeria for the first time to his maternal grandmother. After 2 months, Jason started crying and begging his parents to bring him back to Canada.😂 After much dialogue, Jason returned to Canada to his parents. Once he got to JSS3, he started his usual rebellious behavior. This time around, they sent him back to Nigeria again and never looked back. Jason is currently in a university here, studying engineering. 🤣🤣

I went to the office today physically, when I was returning to where I packed my car, I met an high school boy who asked me about the direction of the train station and fortunately for him that was where I packed. So I told him, let’s continue walking and he now ask me who I wanted to win between France and Senegal tonight, I said “Senegal”. He said he’s a Senegalese 🇸🇳 and his dad told him how Senegal beat France in 2002. I told him that I watched it that year. Obviously, he wasn’t born yet then.
