@ZachLesagePTCG Ok, but seriously, I'm all for 2 Canadian regionals, and an IC if you can support it logically. Chicago is cheap to travel to, and I think that makes it a great choice and why NOLA was bad. Chicago, Orlando, Vegas, those are cities that have affordable travel and should host.

Been defs getting a bunch of weird comments / randoms blocking me because I think Pokémon should host more events in Canada. Idk if I don’t make it obvious enough, but I am VERY supportive of my country, and would like to see PTCG grow here. Do I think every pro-US take is bad? No. I love the States and it has hosted many amazing events. I just hope we switch it up every once in a while or adapt some pseudo-Canadian Nationals (even if it’s unofficial). That’s it. That’s the tweet. Pokémon has required a passport to play at the highest level possible because we have seen global locations for Worlds (Vancouver and Yokohama), so needing a passport for Canada isn’t a valid excuse imo. Maybe if Toronto Regionals was a much smaller Regionals than let’s say Pittsburgh, but it isn’t. It still sells out almost instantly like every other event. I wouldn’t be surprised if we held another global Worlds this year with Pokémon30 being such a massive push for the game. So yeah, NAIC is in Chicago now and that’s cool, and it will probably be the home of NAIC for years to come. I wouldn’t just hope somewhere that Toronto is a consideration considering we’ve also hosted other massive events at our Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Nothing too crazy, just a proud Canadian that has a dream. If you hate me for that because you need a passport or you hate me because I’m Canadian or whatever, just block me please. I’m also hoping to see a Montréal major in the future too so I’m sure I’ll get some haters for that too 😭 🇨🇦 🤘 🇨🇦
Zach Lesage@ZachLesagePTCG

@sylveesimstcg This ain’t it. Toronto sold out too. We’d still experience the same sold out event if we held it in Canada, Mexico, Guam, Bahamas, or the moon.

@ZachLesagePTCG Listen, until you've landed on the moon you don't get big events. Its pretty simple.

@ItsPraww @GamingGen Do they even have a say as to dates? I was always under the impression that they were set by TPCI. Do you have a source that says otherwise?

There needs to be a serious conversation in the community regarding @GamingGen. This post is not to degrade any professors or staff who are genuinely trying to make events as successful and smooth as they can. This organizer has been in charge of NA regionals for 2 seasons now and quality of event has drastically deteriorated in that time. We have seen event prices increase over that time. I decided to track the experiences from myself, people I know and posts made on social media regarding the events and I have those results prepared. This is not an attack post but more of a reflection on the TO we have had for 2 years now. As a community, we should strive for consistently smooth events and constant improvement on those events and I think most people would acknowledge that that is not something we have seen from GG.

This season has been absolutely unbelievable. At the start of the season, I knew I would only be attending 5 majors (exactly the BFL) due to my daughter being born in the middle of the season. I was SO anxious about getting my worlds invite; I felt like I would need to do well at every event I attended in order to get it, which felt impossible while juggling it with work and now two young kids. What ensued was arguably my most successful season ever. I went 4 for 5 on day 2s (we don't talk about Houston), including a top 4, a top 8, and top 32 (with a lost win-and-in for cut) at NAIC. After all that anxiety about getting my worlds invite, I ended up almost 400CP past the invite cutoff line. I have never felt more confident in my play and my deck selection process. Next season I am planning on attending way more events than I ever have in a season before, and I can't wait to see how well I will do. Can't wait to finish this season strong at worlds! 🥳

This behavior isn't acceptable and needs called out. You can cheer for someone without booing their opponent. This is a CHILD. Idk who it was that did it, but shame on you.

Seeing Annabelle make it to the finals two years in a row is something I never dreamed would become reality. I was hopeful, of course; just like every Pokémon trainer and every parent. Losing in the finals is something we can accept, especially against an exceptional player like Luke. Our kids have experienced their share of losses, and that’s part of competition. What I never expected and what truly broke my heart was hearing people boo her simply for playing the game. Annabelle didn’t hear/see the negative part of the crowd during her match today, and for that I’m grateful. But hearing it myself has left me questioning whether competitive Pokémon is a healthy environment for her. What hurts most is that many of the people rooting against her today are people we’ve celebrated alongside. We’ve sung happy birthday to their children, given gifts, congratulated them after great performances, and cheered them on through Regional top cuts and World Championship runs. I completely understand supporting your favorite player. What I struggle to understand is making another child feel unwelcome and ashamed simply for competing. My daughter has one of the kindest hearts I know. No one could honestly say she has ever intentionally hurt anyone. She approaches this game with sportsmanship, always doing her best while treating others with kindness. She started playing Pokémon because Jeff showed her how incredible both the game and the community could be. Annabelle is full of joy, compassion, and a carefree spirit, and I’ve always wanted to protect those qualities for as long as possible. Today was an extraordinary accomplishment and I could not be prouder. She stood on one of the biggest stages in Pokémon, competed with grace, and represented herself exactly as she always has with heart, respect, and courage. Mommy is so proud. I love you, Annabelle.

@LynnOono As a parent of a junior and a senior, I'm truly horrified for you. I can't imagine booing a child on stage. I hope this doesn't cause you to step away, she is truly talented. I can't imagine how I would feel as a parent.

For 3 years I've gone to regionals with my sons and we've all played. Today I was forced to drop because I wasn't at the VGC area while he was playing. Not sure what this means going forward. Sucks. 😔 was 3-1-1

@AathyPlaysPogo @OnGaardTV Because that doesn't happen in every other city? What about Indy where there was a shooting Saturday night a block away from the venue? Or NOLA that was the murder capital of the world a couple years back? But I'm also sure there are no racists in the south...

@PokeDadRob520 @OnGaardTV Colombus is absolutely horrible, there are racists everywhere and multiple people of colour were groped entering a bar, myself included. I’d never want to do another Pokemon event there.

"People are going to whiff worlds because of this" is a sentiment we hear every single season at this time of year. And yes its unfortunate, but unfortunately the only solution that works for everyone is just having a venue big enough to accomodate the WHOLE demand
