@RespectableCon Not talked enough that Billy Graham was indeed pretty Centre-Left outside Abortion, marrieage and LGBT (which was due his age I'd say)
English

It’s pretty simply like 3 elements
1. Protestantism is too new and too individualistic for their aims
2. They want community, tradition, and ritual but there are hardly any Orthodox churches around
3. Pat Buchanan LARP
TWINKDEFCON@twinkdefcon
It is genuinely weird that Catholicism became the *it* religion for right-wing LARPers in a sense. Protestantism is the confession of the old white elite; if you want hard conservativism, there’s Orthodoxy; Catholicism in America is the faith of immigrants and diaspora

@PoliticsMichael @ElectionTime_ @Christo12919382 The last time Republican won Federally was Spencer Abraham in 1994

My updated 2026 Senate Forecast projects a 51-seat Republican majority.
2026 US Senate
🔴Republicans 51 Seats
🔵Democrats 49 Seats
I have accurately forecasted 96% of Senate races across 2020, 2022, and 2024.
In 2026, I predict that while Democrats will make gains, they will ultimately be unable to retake Senate control.
According to my forecast, Democrats will flip North Carolina, Maine, and potentially Alaska. Meanwhile, Republicans are favored to take Michigan.

@julseptx @NilesGApol After the 1980s, the Democrats also abandoned the New Deal. Sanders brought it back in 2016, which is why the liberals of before 2016 are now the moderates.
English

@julseptx @NilesGApol People forget what the standards were before 2016. Back then, Obama and Hillary were considered the "left wing" of the Democrats, and Hillary was slightly more left-leaning than Obama, even though they were both in a similar political range.

@TomEDewey1948 @basedman_99 It's embarrasing but I campaigned for Manfred Weber in the 2019 election. Left the Christian Democrats after 2021 and now I'm active for the greens actually
English

@PolitWave @basedman_99 8 year old me remember seeing a picture of him on the poster of Presidents in the classroom!
English

You can tell Dubya is getting up there in age. He turns 80 in July. I still remember his as President in elementary school. twitter.com/FrenchAmbUS/st…

It was an honor to meet with former President George W. Bush at the Bush Center in Dallas.

@RespectableCon Mitt Romney's victory was a lot because of the Bush wave after 9/11. He might not have even run for governor in 2002 with Gore as president. Also I think Giuliani loses to Gore in 2004
English

@basedman_99 @TomEDewey1948 I was aware that he was president, but my 7-year-old self didn't remember much more than his name and appearance.
English

@TomEDewey1948 I remember him being president when I was in kindergarten and first grade

@RespectableCon There's no such thing like Tradional Gender Roles. Gender changes ages to ages and is different from society to society. Sex is Biological though
English

You’re gonna miss us conservatives when we’re gone actually

maybe the kids are alright

@IL_politic @RespectableCon The connection between Theology and politics is also not given on paper. While Theology is about
Metaphysics, politics Organizing society, managing power and resources. That are two different things not the same but faith can be abused for politics
English

@IL_politic @RespectableCon The "Tradition" in the Wesleyan Quadrilateral should not be confused with tradionalism
Tradition asks: “What should we meaningfully carry forward?”
Traditionalism asks: “How do we preserve everything unchanged?”
It's more about Reflexion than being necessary conservative
English

Two kinds of evangelical:
Megachurch hardliner: more MAGA on trade/immigration, low social capital, prosperity gospel (i.e. Paula White, Tommy Tuberville)
Pizza Hut squish: moderate wrt racial issues, pro-foreign-aid, Bushite types (i.e. TobyMac, David French, John Thune)
Allie ✞@allie__voss
I know people use “evangelical” as a catch-all for “cultural Christians with Pizza Hut churches” but Evangelicals, properly understood, are the most consistently conservative on social issues It’s really only on Twitter where people pretend they’re squishy
English

@RespectableCon A lot of teachings of the Neocharismatic movement like Spiritual warfare, the NAR, the 7 Mountain Mandate, Word of Faith, Prosperity Gospel are not at all tradional hermeneutics. Sure they have right-wing politically views but absolutely not on Christian doctrins
English

Sorry if you think Rush Limbaugh was an exemplar of the Christian faith’s role in the public square you’re not worth listening to
Progressive enablement theology’s wickedness does not excuse conservative Christians for racism and hypocrisy
Megan Basham@megbasham
I will judge you based on your opinion of this man.
English

@coenbrosdem @RespectableCon I don't know why people think that how much a government spends would say anything about how left or right it is.
English

@RespectableCon Well tax cuts are like never fiscally responsible in practice so I had to ask.
English

@RespectableCon If you Look at William Booth it's not Hard to see how different evangelicalism is rooted in Europe than in the US. If most Awakenings happened over anti poverty campaigns in the industrialization the Prosperity Gospel has no place to grow and so there's no religious right
English

@RespectableCon Media somehow tries to put European Evangelicalism to the Far Right, but there's no data given for that except in the UK where Evangelicals even vote Labour over Tory. It's also like Evangelicals make only 2% of European population
