The Rape tradition isn't just in Ozoro alone it's very prominent in all of Delta Central and Isoko North. As a child, I hated going to my village because of the horrors of children screaming behind my grandfather’s window while they were being raped by grown up men in the name of Ekene festival. This is the reality of an average Urhobo/Isoko girl child.

across Africa we’ve had cultures & festivals like this. as much as ppl like to speak down on Christianity and missionaries, they brought a lot of enlightenment to our continent. ppl used to kill twins. sickle cell children were left in forests to die. when kings died, they go around looking for ppl’s heads to bury them with his (sometimes even alive).
