Every man eventually discovers that competence is the only real stabilizer of self-esteem; no amount of praise, affirmation, or philosophical comfort can replace the confidence that comes from knowing you can produce results even when conditions are hostile.

@Promythious Not this analogy though, most major road construction are done by Chinese construction company. You would not seen any Chinese on road built by JB.

Go to every highway the government is building, you’ll see at least a dozen Chinese people. Even complex construction. Go to Dangote refinery. There’s a huge talent problem please don’t hide your head in the sand LOL

@segun_os_ But you probably need to realize your friends aren’t average Nigerians and you don’t walk in average Nigerian circles, so your view of the matter will be extremely curated, that’s why data is important. And the data I’ve seen shows the opposite of what you say .

1) there's no data to back it up because no one is tracking such data. 2) yes the vast majority of nigerians are not in this pool but this is not a regular SME company. this is moniepoint ffs. sourcing for talents at their scale should be relatively easy. off the top of my head I can count 8 of my friends at that level without thinking. I've met some other of FAANG nigerian engineers but I wouldn't call them my friends.

Men who have capacity must not be led around by the nose without the courtesy of consultation, like toddlers, salute to Sen. Abaribe. History must reflect that the opposition was building one formidable coalition alliance until one man broke away for selfish reasons.

BREAKING: Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, officially resigns from ADC. He has just joined the Labour Party in Abia state. It's better for him

@_Manueltin Toh!! “Prosperity is the function of rule of law and strong political institutions” I’m sorry, will these things drop from heaven? Did they drop from heaven for others?

"Xyzerians are smart and productive if you give them a good environment". Who else would give the Xyzerians a good environment if not themselves ?? If Xyzerians are truly smart, then environment-building is downstream of those traits.

Lots of Very Smart People have asked Poor Elewa to read Why Nations Fail, and realize that “IQ is fake”. However, strange thing; I read the book, and I see that they simply beg the question every single time. Let me show you something.

National Organising Secretary is the one in charge of membership registration and internal party elections including direct primaries. That man came last into the coalition, demanded this position (among others) and was still afraid of facing direct primaries - just gimme ticket

Talented Nigerians should know, more than anyone, how scarce they are. But for some reason they don’t🤷‍♂️ Maybe they are in a bubble with other talented Nigerians? Anyway, unlearned rubes like Poor Elewa knows the game!

real talent is scarce. then again, there remains an abundance of people who are willing to work and learn if shown the opportunity. personally, if i was doing any business in Nigeria and intended to compete globally, i would invest in the talent pipeline. partner with schools if you have to, or fund programs that expose students to the problem spaces you are grappling with. filter for the top of the crop, the self motivated. if you engage this effort consistently for 3-5 years, you’ll already have some talent density starting to form within your network. moniepoint is already doing this, same with any serious company because they don’t need to be told the importance of investing in a talent pipeline. everybody go dey alright.

They blame progress on the Industrial Revolution, better schooling systems, and even “rule of law”. This is curious, Poor Elewa wonders; did these things drop from heaven? No one can answer! But still reading.

Again this things are lies lol 😂 We keep saying Nigerian companies don’t invest in talent pipeline meanwhile internally the issues are very different. There is so much course you can send someone that if you don’t have the middle management layer who provides that day to day on the job training the growth rate stalls. These issues are more economic because when people hit middle management their focus is more security so they most likely japa because they want a better life, is organization suppose to fix the countries structural issues ? Or we think it’s senior people who are japaing ? lol 😂
Oladipo@DipoAW

You guys don't want to invest in the talent pipeline but come out every 3 business days to say Nigerians are not employable. Maybe it is Togolese people that are being employed by the top companies in the country. Those who invest in the talent pipeline will reap the reward.
