Is this true? Did Japan really pirate their own media because of distribution problems? It's all of this just silly?

どうして日本人は外国人が日本の漫画の海賊版を買うことを理解してくれないんだ。 手に入らないんだから仕方ないんだ。 って文句言ってる人のツイートが話題になってた。 なるほど。 手に入りにくければ偽物を買ってもいいと? 作者に対する冒涜とも思わずに? 私の職場にいる外国人職員さんも言ってたよ。 「日本はブランド品が高い。母国ならどこでも安く買える」って。 偽物でも「本物が買えないんだからいいじゃん」って考え。 賛同しかねるね。 「日本の漫画を海賊版で違法に読んでファンになりました」って、 それはなんだかなあ…

Fortunately, this has allowed companies to recognize its potential and start localizing more and more works

since ik I have some Japanese followers, I wanted to ask, why is it that so many of Japanese don't understand why westerners pirate Japanese manga, anime and games?


@azukiglg But we do care about your rights as an author. If your publisher told you that they weren't going to publish your work overseas because they don't see demand, then wouldn't you like that there was evidence to the contrary to point to and say, "look, people want to read my works"?




@higureshuuen Respect is mutual in the west. If you dont respect me enough to do open legitimate business with me and accept my currency, I dont respect you enough to care how sad you are when I pirate. Seriously. Take this to heart. Respect goes TWO WAYS.
