@geministar2323 @radioheadretard @Morasum_Art The forensic evidence would disagree with that. Crucifixion victims USUALLY died from asphyxiation, but the evidence points to Jesus dying from hypovolemic shock as evidenced by the water and blood that poured from his side. Its why they didnt have to break his legs on the cross

@radioheadretard @Morasum_Art While all of His injuries were contributing, I’ve always heard the main cause of death was asphyxiation, as Him having to hold Himself with His back would’ve caused it.

Okay, man, i sometimes forget how gruesome his death was
Adam | Faithful Messenger@Adam_FaithfulM

In 1986, the American Medical Association published an article titled "The Physical Death of Jesus Christ". It details the entire process of Jesus' trial to His death on the cross. In Luke 22, before Jesus is arrested, it is written that He was in great distress & sweating blood. Although rare, it is recognized as Hematidrosis, a condition caused by high levels of stress. At the time, the crucifixion was considered the worst death for the worst of criminals. But this is not all Jesus faced. He endured whipping so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. He was beaten so horribly that His face was torn & His beard ripped. A crown of thorns, 2-3 inches long cut deeply into His scalp. The leather whip used to flog Him had tiny iron balls & sharp bones. The balls caused internal injuries while the sharp bones ripped open His flesh. His skeletal muscles, veins, & bowels are exposed, causing major blood loss. Most men do not survive this kind of torture. After Jesus was severely flogged, He was forced to carry His cross while people mocked & spat on Him. Crucifixion was a process meant to instill excruciating pain, creating a slow & agonizing death. Nails as long as 8 inches were driven into Jesus' wrists & feet. The Roman soldiers knew the tendons in the wrists would tear & break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support Himself to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the courage...Jesus endured this reality for 3 hours! The Gospel of John writes that after Jesus' death, a Roman soldier pierced His side with a spear & blood & water came out. Scientists explain that from hypovolemic shock, the rapid heart rate causes fluid to gather in the sack around the lungs & heart. The accumulation of fluid in the membrane around the heart is called a Pericardial effusion & the lungs is called a pleural effusion. To the world, Christianity is as foolish as it can get. They believe it's for the weak. But when you are confronted by the reality of the cross, it's clearly not a pretty sight. It is brutal & horrific. This is the weight Jesus carried. The weight of the sins of the world, all so that we can live. God's wrath is fully satisfied in Jesus. This is what it took. Repent & believe! Jesus is “God among us” in the flesh. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus loves you so much that He went through this spiritual and physical punishment for your sins and mine. Jesus is the LORD, Almighty God, Everlasting Father. Thank You, Jesus.

@radioheadretard @Morasum_Art That is all true, but His death was anything but a metaphor. Saying something like “he died from a broken heart” downplays the unimaginable tortuous death that our Lord went through. It makes it sound like some fairy tale.

@RymanHarrison @Morasum_Art I guess I just saw it differently in a metaphorical way, Him taking on our sins and experiencing the sheer trauma of not only the suffering He was going through and taking on our sins

@radioheadretard @Morasum_Art Yes, the water which poured out is evidence of hypovolemic shock as his cause of death, not a “broken heart”. That’s a really weird way to say it. He most definitely died due to massive physical trauma, not because his heart was broken.

@RymanHarrison @Morasum_Art If you read the crucifixion and look at medically His heart started pouring water when he got stabbed which indicates extreme trauma on the heart

@Morasum_Art I think the saddest thing besides the gruesome death was that Jesus died of a broken heart and not from the excruciating pain of this

@Quadcarl If you know literally anything about the transmission of scripture, this is actually not a good point at all.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS That would be a great argument if those prophecies weren’t only about Jesus being mocked and predicted during his ministry, not after. Have you forgotten that Christianity is the dominant religion on planet earth today?

Apparently Jesus can: - Be conceived from a Virgin - Heal the sick and the blind - Raise the dead - Be God of the Old Testament prior to his condescension - Be raised from the dead - Turn water to wine - Help a man walk on water - Etc But Jesus cannot: - Visit and teach the Gospel to other parts of the world when He was here - Call Prophets today like He did of old and give ongoing revelation Yet, “our” God is limited? Got it.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS Trust me when I say that if Joseph smith had ANY credibility and was not one of the most obvious false prophets and con men in all of human history, Mormonism would be the dominant religion. However, critical thinkers and truth seekers see through the thin lies.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS No, it’s absolutely true. If it weren’t and there was real evidence, Mormonism would likely be the dominant religion on planet earth right now. However, literally every Christian denomination rejects the clearly falsifiable claims of the false prophet and con man Joseph smith.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS I never said that. In fact, I think there are plenty of potentially credible stories of Jesus appearing to Muslims in the Middle East even today in dreams and visions. I don’t however think the evidence for him appearing in the Americas 2000 years ago has any validity.

@RymanHarrison @BlackBlessedLDS How do you know Jesus only spoke with the people in the Middle East in all of human history? How do you know that he never spoke to others in history around the world and doesn't do so now?

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS Do you not know how analogies work? Of course we’re not talking about backflips but the evidence of Jesus doing backflips is just as strong as the LDS claims of Hebrews settling in America and Jesus appearing to them.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS My “claim” is merely a denial of your claim, which is not backed by any evidence other than a book that you think was written thousands of years ago and was translated by Joseph smith. Again, you made the assertion and I denied it due to lack of credible evidence.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS Again, I don’t KNOW Jesus never did a backflip. However, it would be silly of me to begin teaching that Jesus did backflips based on *whatever supposed arbitrary evidence I think I have* just because I don’t have any evidence to the contrary.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS Sorry, that’s not how critical thinking works. You don’t start with an assumption and look for reasons for it not to be true. Rather, you should look at evidence that the leads you to a conclusion. Otherwise you’re just demonstrating serious confirmation bias.

@moroni_memer @BlackBlessedLDS What do you mean why? Why didn’t Jesus do a backflip? I don’t know, he just didn’t. Saying that he didn’t do something is not the same as saying he couldn’t. It’s a dishonest argument to claim that’s what people are saying.
