one of the media's major failures is not questioning the president seriously. if/when he insults a reporter they sit quietly like frightened children hoping not to be scolded. if he replies to a question by deflecting it, ask the question again; ask follow-up questions. UK journalists are skilled at this. without a courageous press, any authoritarian will walk all over them & hold them in contempt.
journalism isn't supposed to be about being "liked"--rather, representing ordinary citizens who do not have access to persons of power.
