At the sidelines of the on-going NRM Leaders' Retreat in Kyankwanzi, I joined H.E. @kagutaMuseveni, as he commissioned the construction of Rtd. General Akandwanaho aka Salim Saleh school of Research and Walter Rodney block. The complex will serve as a center for Pan-African integration, the promotion of African culture, and be a forum for the relentless waging of ideological struggles. It shall also provide for a revolutionary museum to correct, preserve and transmit Uganda and Africa's rich liberation struggles' heritage. It will honor a leading mobilizer who transitioned from mobilising for war efforts to mobilizing for the theoretical and practical implementation of the economic liberation as guided by the musevenomics philosophy

The journey I embarked on eighteen months ago has produced its very first ready cherries. Today has been the harvesting day. It is still little but I am so excited and hoping for the best in the near future. 🙏☕️

This evening, on the fourth day of the ongoing retreat in Kyankwanzi, I addressed the newly elected NRM Members of Parliament on the budget priorities anchored in the NDP IV logic of full monetisation of our economy. These include wealth creation through PDM and Emyooga, value addition in agriculture, tourism and minerals (including oil and gas), the knowledge economy and STI, strategic infrastructure such as the railways and EACOP, reducing the cost of credit, strengthening revenue generation, cost-effective social services, support to the creative industry and AFCON preparations, as well as investment in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. I am glad that the Members continue to benefit from presentations by experts from different disciplines as we build a shared understanding of these priorities.

Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, following a scientific assessment by our CBRN team, I have written to Matongo Wood Works Company confirming that traditional wooden food containers made from omunyama (mahogany) and omusisa (albizia) are safe and durable. I have directed support for this initiative so that we free ourselves from the colonial habit of relying on fragile and unsafe ebyatika (the breakables). Our indigenous knowledge systems served our people well for generations. It is time to consciously revive and promote them as part of building a self-reliant and modern Ugandan economy.

I welcomed His Excellency Majid Saffar, the Iranian Ambassador to Uganda, who called on me this afternoon in Kyankwanzi. We discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation between Uganda and Iran.

The Muyembe–Nakapiripirit Road [92km] has advanced in construction, unlocking access across Karamoja region and in particular to the Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve. In the earlier days, reaching this wildlife reserve was a hurdle, even for wildlife! It’s now a tourism gateway, bringing Uganda’s cheetah🐆 closer to the world and communities closer to opportunity. ✊🏽A demonstration of @GovUganda policy direction; prioritising infrastructure as a catalyst for connectivity, economic transformation and national competitiveness.

UWA received 3 Land Cruisers today from the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration to strengthen One Health surveillance in protected areas. The vehicles will support wildlife health monitoring, disease surveillance & community engagement. #OneHealth #Conservation

WATCH: Scientists at the Mbarara Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute are studying the Jianzhou big-eared goat, a Chinese breed introduced through the FAO–China South–South Cooperation Project. Andrew Wange Bugyenyi, a senior research officer and Animal Resources Research Program leader at MBAZARDI, says the goats show strong potential to boost meat production.
