Tremors (1990) somehow turns a goofy monster setup into a perfectly tuned movie. Clean geography, clear rules, characters who think on their feet, and jokes that come from behavior instead of mugging. Lowbrow on paper, shockingly well made on screen.

As a kid, this seemed like witchcraft when the shoe salesman would jam your foot in here to get your sizing. I'm still not sure I understand how this worked.
