I envy people who can write while listening to music. My brain doesn't work that way. It's either Yasiin Bey's voice or mine. I can't have both in my head.

Currently working on a collection of lesbian love poems and a dystopian future novella/novel. Surprisingly, I've gotten inspiration for each from the other. Does that happen to anyone else?

The only phone numbers I remember are from childhood. So if you ever get an emergency call from me, know that I truly had no choice.

@MkPaxson @The_Fredwords Except Dune...but then again the 1980s version😬 I think we are going to see a LOT more adaptations in the coming years because Hollywood is obviously running out of ideas.

@The_Fredwords @ShonMapp This all gets to the stupid question of "what did the author mean?" Who knows? The beauty of books is that they are open to interpretation and, yes, all too frequently the director's version sucks.

I hate watching a movie before reading the book (if there is one). Regardless of how true the movie is to the book, the book usually offers richer context in a way that a movie never can, without being 10 hours long.

@The_Fredwords We consume and process media differently, the writers and directors often have completely unique visions. Toni Morrison's Beloved is another example. If you didn't read the book, there's no way that movie will make any sense. I'll check out Train Dreams

@ShonMapp For me you've just described Train Dreams. The film didn't work in ways I couldnt articulate, & since it was one my favorite novelists (Denis Johnson) I read the book immediately after. It was clear after a few pages the script missed the *entire* point. An epic swing-and-a-miss.

Why do people lose their minds over book adaptations? Either it isn't true enough to canon or they haven't taken enough creative license to make it current/culturally relevant. For Malcolm X, accuracy is important. But for Bridgerton, I'll take the remix.

@ShonMapp Some time back a spammer decided I would click on his links if he promised "bespoke tailoring." I definitely hear what you're saying, I don't hate the word conceptually but it lands, sound-wise, with a weird thud. There's a street curb between the two syllables somehow.

@SDDonovan I've noticed some of the newer litmags prefer IG over twitter. Then again, social media is a challenge for me.

Do you think it's important to branch out to other social media platforms or is X enough?
