Zimbabwe Council of Churches
19 Days to go Following our previous post, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) continues to share additional concerns we raised on the proposed Constitutional Amendment in our Statements of inputs shared with Parliament of Zimbabwe, including issues around the independence of the courts, aspects of free and fair elections, the protection of gender equality, mechanisms for national healing and reconciliation, and the role of traditional leaders. “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” - Psalm 82:3 Your voice still matters. Remember that public participation is ongoing. You can send your views via email to bills@parlzim.gov.zw or submit them physically at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden or the Old Parliament Building in Harare's Central Business District. #PrayAndParticipate #ConversationsOfHope

Zimbabwe Council of Churches
As the week begins, we reflect on the growing momentum of Zimbabwe Council of Churches youth initiatives across spaces of worship, engagement, and action. “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers…” - 1 Timothy 4:12 In Harare (17 April 2026), five ZCC member church campus fellowships - Methodist on campus (Methosoc), Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) on Campus, Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe (ELCZ) on Campus, United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) on Campus, and the Anglican Youth Fellowship on Campus convened a Revival Night at the University of Zimbabwe Main Chapel, drawing over 100 young people. Through a solidarity message delivered by ZCC National Youth Executive Member Simbarashe Sinamani, the ZCC affirmed its vision of a united, peaceful, and just nation, highlighted ongoing youth empowerment programs, and encouraged young people to boldly claim their space in society, while deepening ecumenical unity among campus ministries. In Manama (23–26 April 2026), the ZCC, participated in the ELCZ National Youth Conference at Manama High School in Gwanda, where over 700 youths gathered under the theme “Supernatural Growth in Faith, Glory and Grace.” Solidarity remarks, presented on behalf of the Council by ZCC Projects Officer - Annie Mbewe, reminded young people that they are not just the future but the present of our nation, calling for unity among youth, a commitment to ethical leadership, and active participation in shaping society. They also affirmed the church’s responsibility to walking alongside young people, empowering them to find their voice and take part meaningfully in national development and constitutional processes. The ZCC remains committed to empowering young people and strengthening ecumenical unity for youth to actively shape the future of the Church and society. #ConversationsOfHope

We made an experiment during ZITF and left this placard by the gate with just a sign saying "Sign to show support". No one was there but just the sign and a marker. When I tell you the long queue we found of people lining up just to show the country chinhu ichi vakuchida. #CA3 IS BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE! Haiwa Bulawayo muri huchi ndabvuma zvangu 🔥🔥🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿

Repression around Amendment hearings betrays constitutionalism. When citizens are intimidated, participation becomes fiction. Over 5,000 affected signals systemic abuse, rights must be protected, perpetrators held accountable, and consultations genuinely free.
NewZimbabwe.com@NewZimbabweCom

newzimbabwe.com/over-5-000-peo… Over 5,000 people affected by human rights violations in March as repression mars Constitutional Amendment Bill hearings The hearings held between March 30 and April 2 was when over 100 human rights abuses occured affecting close to 2,000 people with the rest of the violations happening before and after the consultations.
