I moved to CA from Texas 10 years ago and idk, maybe it’s bc I’m from Austin specifically so it’s like Texas with a twist but: -I haven’t experienced a higher level of flakiness here from ppl I’ve chosen to connect with than back home -I’ve had soooo many people help me and be there for me to achieve what I wanted. Like I’ve connected with so many cool and supportive people and have so many friends and connections now bc of it -People say please and thank you like normal? Idk? But other manners things and like old southern men opening car doors and walking on the outside of the sidewalk thing, I’ve had to teach the sidewalk thing to a few -I am not queer so my experience with witnessing homophobia is different but my son is queer and so are a ton of my friends and I can assure you I have witnessed a LOT more hatred of the LGBT community back in Texas than I have here.
