Ben, thanks for doing this conversation. We're all so much better off. (FWIW for others, I am generally hostile to interviews and podcasts and prefer to read transcripts. Don't do that here, folks. And don't just listen. Sit down and watch.) youtube.com/watch?v=V8MO-iโ€ฆ @bensasse

I get the argument for tolerating Trump being a jerk so long as he gets results. I do not buy for an instant the claims that this is good, or that there's no downside to acting this way.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is wrong about most social issues, but she's right about this one. I give her a lot of credit for speaking out. Very, very few politicians--Republican or Democrat--are willing to do so.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@AOC

This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

Sen. Kennedy (R-LA), just now on the Senate floor: The "Karen Wing of the Democratic Party" is in charge and "wants to defund ICE and will accept nothing less. This is the same wing that wants to defund the police." . Not all Democrats agree with the Karen Wing of their party ... but it is a fact that it is firmly in control. And any Democrat that agrees to any sort of compromise with respect to ICE is going to be punished to the rest of their natural lives. They can't do it, and they're not going to. We know that nothing is going to resolve this, because my Democratic friends politically cannot agree to a compromise about ICE. So here's what we ought to do. We should accept the Democrats' offer. We should accept the offer to open TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard, CISA, etc. and the day after we do that, we Republicans should file a reconciliation bill and on our own come up with a budget for ICE. @SenJohnKennedy

What's the point of a talking filibuster if you're not going to do amendments? The talking filibuster has only worked when bargaining was on the table. So far, all signals are that no negotiating is on offer.
Jamie Dupree@jamiedupree

Sen. Lisa Murkowski R-AK has submitted 15 amendments to the SAVE America Act. One of them would exempt people born before 12/31/1960 from having to prove their citizenship in order to register to vote (they are all age 65+)
