Pop science publications love labeling an exoplanet "Earth 2.0" and then you look into it and there's like a 50% chance the atmosphere is composed of superheated sulphuric acid and a 25% chance it doesn't even exist at all

Earth 2.0 exists it’s called kepler-452b and it’s 1.5 billion years older than our sun meaning it has been potentially hosting life before our planet existed

@amazonmilkfrog The issue is that it's generally not possible to locate a planet around the star, unless it's really close like mercury, and is in between the sun and the planet looking at the sun with a telescope. So you could only ever point to earth in a way, relative to the sun.

not to get into the "earth flag" discourse but one thing i don't see mentioned is that the pulsar map is not earth specific? it locates the sun. if we, god forbid, find intelligent life on like. europa. they're gonna be pissed that we claimed a solar system symbol for our planet

@amazonmilkfrog Also to clarify, I don't know how long the engine was ignited. Typically it could be done a minimum of once, while in the orbit of earth, when creating the intercept with the moon. Though very minor changes could also be made. Also RCS would be used to turn the craft. Minor force

@amazonmilkfrog No they wouldn't feel anything. From their intertidal frame of reference they are completely still the entire time. They only feel movement on reentry, and when the engine is ignited. The engine would only be ignited maybe twice, for a short period, less than an hour total.

@PoliticalKiwi @LinkofSunshine 30 billion in revenue is not the same as the actual investment to get it, which has been trillions, and only part of the gdp growth. It's primary use as a text processor and code generator does not actually generate enough profit to meet expectations, nor does it projected.

I think the only thing I would change about the UN flag is to remove the laurels and the latitude/longitude lines, then make the continents bigger. Honestly, I like the blue and wish it were bigger for socialism, but it would look good in red too

@AntoniusOhii I mean I just disagree, Machiavelli isn't that interesting of a writer. Basically the only insights you can gleem are from his reliability as a historical source, regarding very detailed specifics. His broad governing principles are not that useful at all.
