The Tavistock has until Friday to show email correspondence between GIDS & Mermaids. “Ideological thinking represented by some of the trans charities has interfered with safeguarding and the need for clinical debate, discussion and research in this area.” thetimes.co.uk/article/862857…

We've signed this important letter. Let's get as many as we can to do the same. Tell the NHS that accurate, sex-based language is vital to women's health. can-sg.org/2023/02/23/ope…

Don’t think this is being said enough. Teaching about misogyny is NOT about one off lessons, days or assemblies. It is about: ✅ Creating a culture where everyone is respected and treated as equals. ✅ Training all staff to manage challenging conversations and behaviours.

@Jeff_Pedley ... are these conditions even legal? I've never taught in England, but it sounds hellish.

This job advert from a Sheffield secondary is reason #417 why I will never teach in England again.

@Jeff_Pedley We have well-being periods that can’t be used for cover, anonymous TES staff pulse bi-weekly survey, flexible working, a staff association that SLT responds to, fruit in staff room, etc.

After all this Sheffield school advert hoo-har, please can someone restore my faith in schools’ attention to teacher well-being? Show me some positive things schools are doing! My old school used to have a ‘ME’ day - you could take one day a year off for personal commitments.

USA: The first whistle-blower speaks out: "I Thought I Was Saving Trans Kids. Now I’m Blowing the Whistle. There are more than 100 pediatric gender clinics across the U.S. I worked at one. What’s happening to children is morally and medically appalling." thefp.com/p/i-thought-i-…

@No_ideology_MTF @widerlenspod I was only talking about the podcast and I only started following her here recently, but thank u for pointing this out to me. I personally believe that people with GD, especially children, need holistic care and that affirmation shouldnt be the go-to care style for all cases

@TeachCastro @widerlenspod Sorry but i have seen her start with the" i was a GD child" many times over years so ..no its a tool for her. She has no compelling argument for there should be no transitioning . Any fool knows there are issues which are no longer addressed as they once were.

I just started listening to Gender a wider lense podcast (@widerlenspod) and it is so incredibly informative, educative, kind and respectful in the way they talk about adults and children's take on gender. All teachers should listen to it!

@No_ideology_MTF @widerlenspod I think Stella says that she had GD, which I agree is her own experience and anecdotal in this case, but she doesn't use it as her main argument. The main arguments are much more compelling than that.

@TeachCastro @widerlenspod I was referring to Stella specifically , she has said as a representative of Genspect "They" do not support anyone transitioning. Some of her Gay friends also say GNC boys need to man up essentially, She says she was GNC child which is a lark like " I have black friends " 🙄.

@No_ideology_MTF @widerlenspod I'm only 6 episodes in and they mentioned many times that gender affirming care is valid for some but not for all. They explored a variety of holistic care that has proved to work for children. They do not support gender affirming care as the ONLY way to treat gender dysphoria.

@TeachCastro @widerlenspod Not really honest about a wider lense when Stella does not think anyone is actually better off after transitioning which IS the case for some of us. All the focus is to "better ways" ie : No transitioning

Children are not a monolithic group and need to be assessed and supported holistically. When we let our need to appear kind/accepting/modern and our fear of being called intolerant cloud our judgement, we fail them as parents/professionals. They will come back asking questions.

How come women need a tonne of evidence, DNA, photos, confession in blood and a full psych assessment when they say they’ve been abused, but men just need their own word when they say the woman is lying? 🙃

@hatpinwoman I absolutely agree that birthing person is dehumanising for women, but genuine question: would it be possible for the law or birth certificates for trans parents to call them birthing parent/person. I'd understand if 'mother' was triggering. Any ideas?
