Just for transparency - I’m 29 and I have $53,000 roughly in retirement. It’s tough and I feel way behind. Especially seeing 20-22 year olds on here with that much in a Robinhood account. I’m posting this as motivation and a mark to look back on. Time to grind.

A lot of people think networking means begging for opportunities. In reality it’s just being memorable before the opportunity exists.

You’re not doing anything wrong….. just blending into a system where hundreds of applicants are doing the exact same thing. But a lot of hiring today is nepotism…. referrals, networking, and visibility.. not just qualifications. Separate yourself by connecting directly with employers and recruiters on LinkedIn instead of only mass applying through job boards. Reach out, introduce yourself, and make people remember your name. And don’t undervalue yourself by only applying to jobs you’re overqualified for. Sometimes you have to aim higher and grow into the role once you get the opportunity. Fake it til you make it if you have to (experience)

I am so discouraged. I’ve applied to over 1000 jobs from front desk person, bartender & literally everything in between. I have my Masters. I have a great resume. What am I doing wrong?

Or are you just making expensive parenting choices? -Breastfeeding (if you can) is practically free -Daycare is a choice (stay home/work opposite shifts) -Cloth diapers are an affordable investment -A swing, bouncer, changing table etc aren’t “necessities” -Secondhand or hand me down clothes work just as well What’s your personal take?

@callmegdot The mortgage isn’t the danger here, being cash poor is…. If this person is making 5-6k a month then yeah sure it’s a bad decision If they’re making 10-15k… what’s a $3200 mortgage.

Let me ask a serious question. If you have $30-$40k saved up right, are you telling me your going to wanna put all that down on a house down payment just to have a $3200 mortgage??
