The case involves 18-year-old Daniel Irving, who drowned at Lake Ray Hubbard in the Dallas-area city of Rowlett, Texas, during an outing with two friends. Authorities initially treated the incident as a drowning, but the investigation later uncovered allegations that one of the friends attempted to conceal what happened.
According to investigators, 19-year-old Lucas Roper was arrested and charged with tampering with physical evidence. Police allege Roper deleted messages from Daniel’s phone, discarded the phone into the lake, and took other steps to hide evidence after the drowning. As of now, he has not been charged in Daniel’s death itself, and authorities have not announced homicide charges. The investigation remains ongoing.

A 14-year-old Arizona boy is being recognized as a hero after helping an elderly woman with dementia who was found wandering alone in temperatures exceeding 100°F in Gilbert, Arizona.
Royal Cothrun was riding his bike when he noticed 76-year-old Teresa Morgan looking confused and distressed in the extreme heat. Instead of passing by, he stopped to check on her, helped her get into the shade, and calmly spoke with her until she was able to remember her son’s phone number. Royal called her son, who arrived just before first responders.
Teresa had recently been diagnosed with dementia and had wandered miles from home after becoming disoriented following a trip to a grocery store. Her family and firefighters said Royal’s quick thinking and compassion likely saved her life. The Gilbert Fire Department and the Air National Guard plan to honor him for his actions.

A group of 11 Republican lawmakers, led by Rep. August Pfluger, sent a letter to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert demanding stronger action to protect Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark from what they describe as repeated excessive on-court physical play. The lawmakers cited incidents in which Clark was hip-checked, poked in the eye, and struck in the throat, arguing the league has failed to properly enforce player safety. They also suggested that if the WNBA does not address the issue, federal agencies could review whether a hostile work environment or civil rights concerns exist.
The Indiana Fever said neither the organization nor Caitlin Clark had any involvement with or prior knowledge of the congressional letter, while reiterating that player safety remains a priority. As of now, no federal civil rights investigation has been launched—lawmakers are calling for greater accountability, but the graphic’s claim that an investigation “is on the way” goes beyond what has been officially announced.
