@Carl_Nwakakwa I actually think that is not the best idea. 😂 A typical good writer would question why something like Game And Watch appears there, which is one of the best jokes in the movie, while what they are doing now is more like: fuck it, if it's fun, put it there, no rhyme or reason.

I'm really glad the Mario movies are making money, but Nintendo needs to fire all the "writers" they have and actually get actual real writers who can actually write a coherent story.

@TheZTarget ive seen adaptations of games im personally a diehard fan of, and my judgement wasn’t based on how many references i saw on screen but how well it captured the tone, spirit, & imagination of the thing i’m a fan of

If one objective is brand expansion, as you pointed out, and the movie is a 90 minutes ad, millions and millions of people are willingly being exposed to it, including millions of children who might not be so familiar with the IP

About the first target, considering how successful the Switch was, how successful the Switch 2 is becoming, and how well the movie is performing in the box office, they seem to be doing good marketing.

@snoopywavs @MaxFromQuebec Good answer. Following your example, I agree a balanced nutrition is the best option, but I would not deprive a kid of having a fast food meal now and then. Don't you agree? Maybe this movie is that fast food meal.
Maybe parents could also show kids some Ghibli films.

@TheZTarget @MaxFromQuebec No, it’s compatible with raising your kid to engage with life in a thoughtful way. Think of it this way, a kid raised purely on soda and fast food is more inclined to avoid vegetables and water. They deserve better, but they’ve been conditioned this way so they’ll want fast food

@TheZTarget @MaxFromQuebec Ebert said this before an entire generation of children started getting raised with iPads. Kids now have no attention span and have been conditioned to need constant stimulation. They would be observant and attentive if they were raised to be.

And considering kids are liking the Mario movie, either the movie tickles their imagination, or Ebert is somewhat wrong. 😐

I’ll be honest, at some point it gets about as exhausting to hear the same remarks about the Mario Galaxy Movie one way or the other

It literally. LITERALLY. Doesn't have a screenplay. This isn't a movie, it's an ad you pay to see. The extent of its creativity is "look at all these references." Imagine someone made an Alice in Wonderland movie with no White Rabbit.

Not every movie needs a super serious, deep story with heavy emotional arcs or "important" themes. Some movies, especially animated family ones like these, are allowed to just be pure fun: colorful, fast-paced, packed with references, and built like a video game come to life. The critics keep treating the Mario movies like they’re supposed to be the next Inside Out or Toy y Story, demanding tight plotting, profound character growth, and cinematic "weight." But that’s not what this is. It’s a celebration of Nintendo’s world. These movies resonate perfectly with their target audience, the critics are just out of touch.

"Super Mario Galaxy: La película" sufre del mismo problema que la anterior, es una película vacía. La animación, como lo fue en la primera entrega, es maravillosa, pero es un guión insípido. En esta secuela todo ocurre de manera muy rápida, es como un vídeo de Tik Tok pero de hora y media. El guión se preocupa más por el fanservice, que por desarrollar una buena historia, el resultado da un producto con un bonito embalaje, pero con un interior insuficiente. Es muy entretenida, pero se olvida nada más salir de la sala. #TheSuperMarioGalaxyMovie
