@tampabay28 reporter Michael Paluska visited @EmbarcCollectiv earlier this month to interview Shawn Cutter, founder and CEO at Embarc Collective member-company @energiacres, for a special report on the "massive" energy demands of AI datacenters. EnergiAcres' mission is to design, build, and operate advanced AI infrastructure district energy systems that boost sustainability, reduce carbon emissions, and provide reliable, efficient energy for data centers and industrial uses, blending renewable energy with natural gas solutions for a balanced approach. Shawn and his team are building this model in 𝗢𝗵𝗶𝗼: power-first + storage, transparent cost allocation, and 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗲 so compute byproducts become local value (heat/CO₂ → food systems + cold chain + jobs). The first circular, "power-first" campus in slated for Mansfield, Ohio, designed to pair AI-scale data centers with local agriculture. Their model treats compute campuses like industrial ecosystems: capture waste heat and meter CO₂ from on-site energy generation to support greenhouses, enhance local sustainability and grow produce year-round, and reduce trucking miles/spoilage. Add reuse of rainwater + condensate and you shrink the water footprint while improving community resilience through public-private partnerships with Grow Ohio Valley, @cnxcorp Resources, and @OglebayResort, among others. Cutter said his company's vision centers on repurposing data center output rather than simply extracting from the grid and surrounding communities. "And your company hopes to create a closed loop system so that these giant data centers aren't sapping all of our energy from the grid?” Tampa Bay 28 reporter Paluska asked. "Yes, you can turn a data center from being an extractive project to being a circular project that creates opportunity for the community, rather than just building a data center that sucks up power and water," Cutter said. To watch Paulska's special report, visit tampabay28.com/news/local-new…. A BIG thank you to Scott Price, Founder and CEO of @aligncompliance, for joining me on stage for @EmbarcCollectiv’s first quarterly Builder Series event for 2026 earlier this week. Scott and I delved into his almost two decade year journey at A-LIGN from a scrappy, boot-strapped startup to a globally recognized, high-growth unicorn with offices across Europe, India, and Latin America backed by Hg, @FTVCapital and Warburg Pincus LLC. His reflections include: 👉 Be patient and disciplined in capital decisions. 👉 Build culture intentionally — and measure it. 👉 Design security into your product from day one. 👉 Align incentives clearly with investors and executives. 👉 Invest in people development even when budgets tighten. 👉 Scaling a company isn’t about moving fast at all costs. It’s about moving with clarity, discipline, and intention. For a recap of my discussion with Scott, visit embarccollective.com/resources/buil…. The Builder Series by Embarc Collective is a quarterly educational program that provides unparalleled access to business icons and thought leaders in Tampa Bay and across the state of Florida — each sharing the innovative leadership lessons and frameworks that led them to success in their respective careers. Join us for our Q2 2026 Builder Series for an impactful fireside chat with Ken Babby, CEO of the @RaysBaseball. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at 8:30 AM ET in the @ReliaQuest Auditorium at Embarc Collective. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information! Excited to announce available internships with @EmbarcCollectiv member-companies for the Summer 2026 for undergraduate and graduate students from the @USouthFlorida and FUSE (Florida Undergraduate Scholar Education) Program schools. At @EmbarcCollectiv, we understand that founders and cofounders of early-stage, high growth tech companies devote hours to attract, cultivate, and deploy its most valued resource … TALENT. To help address the talent challenge that early-stage tech companies in our community face, we announced a new university partner program in July with the @USouthFlorida as the inaugural institution to join the program. A major pillar of this program, Student Engagement (including internships, capstone projects, student organizations, and more) and Career Pathways (job opportunities for graduates), provides Embarc Collective's community of 140+ early-stage tech startups and growth companies access to top graduate and undergraduate talent from Florida's top ranked system of universities and colleges. Recognizing that funding for talent is equally a challenge, we announced the expansion of our partnership with the Genspiration Foundation to provide member-companies with funding for paid internships for students from USF and FUSE (Florida Undergraduate Scholar Education) Program schools, internships that provide students with hands-on, immersive learning opportunities with companies in the startup ecosystem. This summer, Embarc will host paid internships for almost a dozen students from USF and FUSE program schools. ⭐️ BiaTech Corporation — AI Engineering Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Threshold 360 — Digital Sales & Marketing Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Women in Tech & Entrepreneurship — Sales Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ CaresLink — Digital Marketing Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ IYA Cares — Social Media & Content Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Clarky AI. — AI Engineering Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Trustate — AI Engineering Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Stablein Solutions — Data & AI Engineering Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Esencia Property Maintenance, Inc 5000 Company — Data Integration & Business Intelligence Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Soteria 360 — Operations & Project Management Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ Waddle — Marketing & Market Research Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login ⭐️ ryco.io — Marketing & Sales Intern app.joinhandshake.com/login To apply for one or more of the open positions, simply click the URL link next to the position that interests you.
