Charlottetown’s website says Spenser Dr Extension will be completed in 2026, but it previously said fall 2023, summer 2024, spring 2025, & fall 2025.  It’s budget time so surely, we’ll see it approved “again” but the true question is will Chair Mitch Tweel deliver or divert funds

There was a Waterfront Visioning Session yesterday hosted by Downtown Charlottetown Inc. at one of PEI's biggest boondoggle's (the Atlantic Technology Centre) Consultants from another Province, that know little about our local economy, costs and regulations were giving out legitimate ideas from other creative communities thinking they would work here in our Downtown, BUT everything here is stifled by the 500 Lot regulations and it might be better to clean them up first and then move forward with creativity, like Downtown Halifax. The whole time the consultants were presenting ideas I was thinking about the foolishness of Council turning down the proposed above street lighting on Kent St that would have added some flare to our city but by the time something got approved by Council, it was watered down to nothing. But our Mayor was there taking notes... it's too bad our City doesn't have the leadership to move these ideas forward.

Thinking the City @ChtownPE should run a contest to see which street has the biggest potholes… is it Saint Dunstan St at the back of Sobeys West Royalty or Superior Crescent… I’m sure there are others, so shoot us a note & we’ll create a poll to find the winner

Premier Lantz @RobLantz announced a Fiscal Responsibility & Red Tape Reduction review today & before everyone poops 💩 on this idea, PLEASE give it a chance as we have to drive down costs & we need to make it easier for folks to move ahead with less holdups, especially for youth

@terryhashimoto Building up above 4 storeys reduces unit costs by 10 to 25% therefore reduces rent by a similar amount. Our land costs downtown Ch’town are still $20 a SF where Halifax is $50 to $80 so we’re still affordable. We just need creative development rules & no frivolous appeals.

@Tim_Banks You're a brilliant man and ultra successful - but I travel a lot and my son lives in Halifax so quite familiar with the housing situation there - how does taxing the infrastructure in downtown Charlottetown improve the affordable housing situation ? Question - not a shot - thanks

Sorry George, but I’m going to have to disagree… our biggest demand for affordable housing is in our Downtown & we could lead in this area without compromising heritage or our waterfront… take a trip to Halifax & stroll along their beautiful boardwalk with 30 storey high rises in the background & loads of heritage buildings alongside… it’s refreshing and very popular, especially for tourists & our younger generation… my son & yours, have both moved to the big cities & if we want to keep them here, then let’s step up our game with some exciting creative housing projects, not the past!!!

After a day of dealing with bureaucratic parochialism on P.E.I. it’s refreshing to visit FiN @FinFolkFood and watch a fun group of young Islanders delivering up an awesome local meal… they don’t have to worry about folks trying to knock them down daily for moving forward 😎

What a joke, Ian MacPherson of the PEI Fishermen's Assoc. should be praising the Premier for putting a fisher in Cabinet so they have a voice at the table... but these associations are a scam just like the gas dealers, only looking out for themselves... the Island public elected MacEwen to represent them & if he's offered cabinet then he should be able to accept it while protecting his other livelihood during his term, so it's there when he leaves public office.
