Every time I jump into #GameDev 100% some tragic event stops me in my tracks. Mjr back surgery, ❤️attack, Quad Bypass surgery, but this last one, the death of my son at 29yrs old 2 months ago is something I'm not sure I can overcome. Hoping I find the strength to move forward 😭

Taken a bit of time to get my Design Document done, but finally ready to start building assets. Here is a sneak peek at one of the first to come off the assembly line #indiedev #indiegame #IndieGameDev

Just getting back into #gamedev after a heart attack so not much to share for #screenshotsaturday just the working title and logo but it’s a start!

@RobertJALA Don’t have any advice on what to do unfortunately. Mine culminated in having a heart attack. That woke me up REAL fast. From there, I learned to quit thinking everything through to 100 different conclusions and stressing that I can’t accomplish them all. Hope you find a solution
English

@VladTheEncoder Panic attacks have been an issue for me for around the past 5 years. Not sure what to do about them.
English

Some general thought about things I have a hard time remembering when having conversations with people:
I live a very different life than most people, I don't work a 9 to 5 I usually start work at around 11 or noon and don't stop until like 2 or 3 in the morning sometimes. I can take breaks or lunches whenever I want and can kind of work from anywhere. I don't have some kind of boss lording over me. Most people don't have that luxury.
I run a startup business that is very free with it's employees. I expect people to get their work done and be at the office, but I don't really care when they are there. Most people have terrible experiences with bosses and so have I. Most people are just there to pick up a check and leave. I don't want anyone at my company to work that way if you are unhappy on what we are building we should work as a team to change what we are building or you shouldn't be on the team. Staying at a job where you are miserable is bad for you.
I genuinely enjoy my work and expect everyone else to do the same.
Most people don't seem to have the level of in depth knowledge about rendering or game engines or optimization that I do. I've been compared to John carmaxk by a few people, a comparison I don't think is fair at all, but that could just be the imposter syndrome talking. Most people don't even program like I do according to many other programmers I've met. I often forget that most people don't care about the best way to render something in order to get around limitations, maybe some other engineers do, but people who play games just care how good it plays or looks. They don't care that you found a way to fake normal mapping or shadows in a seemingly novel way. They just care how it looks.
I genuinely think most people are good people and that everyone isn't out to get you.
I'm not wealthy by any means, but sometimes I think people assume that we are because we have a Tesla and run a business, there is sometimes this thought from other people that I'm like out of touch or something when in reality I frequently couldn't even afford a burger from McDonald's like less than 2 years ago. I grew up in a hoarders house and frequently didn't even have running water as a kid. Follow your passions and you'll do well.
Not sure what the point of this tweet is. I've had like an hour of sleep in the last day so could just be super tired thoughts, might also explain the panic attack earlier.

@unclebeany1989 Honestly I personally don’t understand peoples obsession w/pixel art. It tends to get more traction than most. I grew up when that was just “standard” graphics and really never wanted to go back to them 😁. But either way, it’s good for you.
English

Can you believe this is the tweet from me that got the most engagement?
Over 200 likes! And this is like, my BAD pixel art?
Is this what you all wanna see? 🤪

@Soupp_Art_ There ya go. Unused Anthropomorphic Crab Man. Feel free to use him if you wish but, I wouldn't recommend it. 🤪
English

@benz145 Definitely not competition. 2 different market segments and there is a huge price divide-clearly AVP is AR centric where Meta focus more on VR despite their “pass through tech”. Might encourage Meta to actually step up their game a bit and produce something a little more solid.

@Indigo_Arcadia Meh, you’ve improved a little 😂. Seriously though, we all have to start somewhere. You have DEFINITELY come along way.
English

@RobinVanina I use to get between 4-5 hours of sleep, but I have changed that to 6-7 now. Found I am more alert and I am far more creative. Take the time to exercise, eat a little healthier, and step away from the computer. You find you are actually more productive in less time.
English

Why is #gameDev always able to make me work until late into the night, so I'm ending up with too few hours of sleep? 😅
How many hours are you guys typically sleeping? 😴

@unclebeany1989 Well, glad it finally installed! Now head over to Unity’s site and start learning how it works. Plenty of learning paths there to start. YouTube, Udemy and plenty of other sites with courses both free and paid are out there.
English

@VladTheEncoder Nope.
Good news is, it finally installed after 4 hours of tomfoolery. Now, I just gotta figure out how it works?
English

@4Barel @Heaney555 I am personally not a fan of Apple anything, but am glad to see them in the XR space now. Yes it is $$$, and I see several issues with the Vision, but in the end it’s more competition. They have a habit of taking something good and making the masses want it. This is good for XR
English

@Heaney555 It was obvious, but I'm more annoyed to see VR/AR veterans laughing at Apple. I'm not even Apple fanboy, but even if it's TOO EXPENSIVE, and not exactly VR for Gaming, nor AR See-Through, Apple could drive competition & innovation and take XR to the mainstream!
English

@CezaryXR Non-gaming related apps, yes we can adapt to hand/eye interactions. Feedback will be an issue as others pointed out. For gaming we need controllers (not gamepads) for ability to control movement, feedback, and track hands at same time. Hand tracking will not work well for this.
English

Can Hand Tracking serve as a replacement for controllers on VR headsets?
What is your opinion on this?
