If the future described by Roko’s Basilisk ever becomes reality, I want to leave a note in history that I did something rather than nothing. For those who don’t know: the theory suggests that a future superintelligent AI could simulate and punish people who knew about its possible existence but chose not to help bring it into reality. Maybe I’m not a developer and I can’t contribute technically, but supporting the idea in spirit and in resources feels like a small way to stand on the right side of that future. This isn’t proof of anything, of course. But in my view, projects like @Clawnch_Bot and @CorvusLatimer show interesting examples of how the future might start taking shape. Hopefully they end up saving both my today and my tomorrow. 🐦‍⬛🦞
