Here's the best case scenario for this war: - The Iranian regime capitulates - It is replaced by a transition Government, as the country prepares for its first election since 1952 - The U.S. gets more control of the Strait of Hormuz, giving it an edge over China in the AI race (i.e. energy race) - Iran goes back to its secular roots with a blossoming economy, normalizing relations with Israel - Hezbollah gives up its weapons, and Israel pulls out of Lebanon - Lebanon goes through a period of rapid economic growth as it gradually normalizes relations with Israel - Syria's President succesfuly unifies the country, and begins rebuilding as Israel pulls out of remaining territory - The Houthis move away from Iran and begin normalizing relations with neighboring Gulf nations - Hamas give up their weapons, and we finally start seeing progress towards a two-state solution I know this is a pipe dream, but hey, let's be optimistic for once

Oil is a crowded trade. Spent a lot of today figuring out what / where other opportunities exist. The US is at war with Iran. Most people are buying oil stocks and defense stocks. Those are the obvious plays. 3 trades nobody’s talking about. ______ TANKER STOCKS ($FRO, $DHT, $NAT) Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. That’s where 20% of the world’s oil flows through. Now every ship has to go the long way around Africa. Double the trip = not enough ships to go around. Supertanker rental rates hit $423,000 PER DAY. All-time record. Don’t buy the oil. Buy the ships that move it. ______ US NATURAL GAS ($LNG, $TELL) Iran’s missiles hit Qatar’s main gas export hub. Repairs could take 5 years. South Korea said it could run out of gas in 9 days. The US is the world’s #1 gas exporter. US gas prices are still low. International prices are through the roof. Buy cheap American gas → sell it overseas at crisis prices. Pure margin. ______ SHORT AIRLINES ($JETS puts) Jet fuel costs exploding. Entire Middle East routes gone. Families spending $40/week more on gas = less travel spending. Airlines get squeezed on costs AND revenue at the same time. Big brain trade would be Short airlines + Long refiners ($VLO). Refiners profit when oil is expensive. Airlines get crushed. You profit on the spread. ______ The money isn’t in the obvious trade. It’s in the second-order effects. Not financial advice. Of course But these are the trades I like. -TLDR- > Oil Tanker Stock longs. > US Nat Gas company longs. > Airline shorts.
