My GitHub profile is at github.com/abayer, which I’m definitely not mentioning because it has a link to somewhere else you can find me. If you know what I mean.

Sometimes I feel sorry for voice actors with bass voices. What if they want to non-ironically talk about how nice tulip bouquets are? Or sparkly pink diamonds? No, it's all pickup trucks and "combat grade" hoodies and soap that smells like mesquite barbecue.

@EstherHyphen Bingo. The expectation levels are just radically different.

@abayer True. I would not in the least complain if trains and buses got the financial backing that planes and cars did. I’d jump for joy, in fact. But I see zero people having screaming meltdowns at bus or train stations. It’s the bus. Just bear with it because you’ve got no choice.

I think train and bus journeys are less stressful than planes, despite being crappier, because they're peopled by those who have to go by bus. It's late? Something isn't working? No one is explaining anything? Plane people get mad. Bus people are like, "Of course. It's the bus."

@KevinRothrock With every Neal Stephenson book, I am prepared for either the narrative to just abruptly end, or pivot almost jarringly in the third act. It’s just what you have to expect with Stephenson.

@hipsterelectron I swear to god I’ve had nearly the exact same dream. I don’t think it was tied to a specific place, but it was somewhere generically European.

@can I'm moving to New York early next year, and I gotta say, I'm rather happy that I won't have this dipshit representing me for long, if at all. He's truly an astounding dumpster fire.

So Pulp turned me into a puddle of feelings, as they did the previous two times I saw them, and I am still recovering.

@norootcause Speaking of that sort of case, though not about yaml, remind me some day to tell you a story of a truly questionable Gitlab usage…

I will always be a fan of anarchosyndicalist thinkers, even if they're not fans of my statist syndicalist leanings, but fuck libertarians forever.

I'm rereading 2312, and something I always appreciate about Kim Stanley Robinson is that he doesn't refer to the absence of law as anarchy, but as "a libertarian free-for-all".

@abayer It would make sense as a guided semi-self-driving drone, with relatively heavy equipment. Being silent could be an advantage then. Of course, only in the countries where the lives actually cost something

Gas guzzlers are gonna be the bulk of motorized combat vehicles for a whiiiile to come. It's a lot easier to bring extra gas or get resupplied in a warzone than to find a functioning Supercharger.

@al94781 Kind of an inherent weakness of fascism is to dismiss competency, so I'd say it's all the same thing.
