Something I wanted in @GitBookIO for a while: you can now embed an Ask AI input directly in your docs pages — right where users land. Already dogfooding it in our own guides → gitbook.com/docs/guides

first check $500k-1M pre-seed
in this age of LLMs, how are developer docs still so out of date??? pretty easy to crawl paths in the docs and ensure screenshots and links are actually accurate. could easily run this updater on app deployments.

AI now accounts for 41% of docs readers — up from 9% at the start of 2025. That’s a 500%+ increase in AI readership in one year. Docs aren’t just read by humans anymore. They’re read for humans, by AI. Read more about what this shift means for docs: buff.ly/bZEhG8O

Interesting analytics idea from @GitBookIO. Breaking out "bots" separately into a new category instead of trying to eradicate it from all analytics data:

We’re collecting surveys for our next iteration of the State of Docs report! Last year, we uncovered some pretty amazing trends, especially around how teams are thinking about AI in their docs. This year, we’re going deeper. Add your voice: stateofdocs.com

The State of Docs survey is back. 📚 Last year, hundreds of people shared their voices and helped us prove docs matter. This year, we’re going deeper on AI, scale, and how docs get shipped and maintained. If you write, read, or depend on docs, take 5 minutes and add your voice: stateofdocs.com/2026/survey

@pitachoi @petergyang @GitBookIO has bi directional sync with Git <> their editor! It works great if your team is making changes across Git and and editor and you want everything in sync

@petergyang It feels like nobody's fully solved this yet. Most people I've seen either keep notion/docs as source of truth and copy to local files when claude needs it. Or just embrace GitHub markdown with PRs if the team is technical enough.

Ok all the Claude Code hype aside, I still use Google Docs/Sheets for knowledge work with my team and stakeholders. Local md files for specs and roadmaps don't solve the collaboration problem—unless the answer is storing them in a GitHub repo and having teammates submit PRs to change a spec? But that seems like overkill. Have folks found a way to do team collaboration well with Claude Code non-coding knowledge work? @_catwu @trq212 how does the CC team do it?

@petergyang @GitBookIO is a great option for teams working across Git + IDE! You can sync a repo to GitBook, and allow cross edits between git + GitBook’s built in editor, it’s very smooth 👌

4 years ago I started building brillapp.com as a side project to help myself learn languages better. Today, I launched it again with more features — cleaner, faster, and way more intentional about how you’re able to memorize vocabulary

We’re wrapping up 2025 at GitBook with a lot of pride. This year wasn’t just about shipping features—it was about redefining what documentation should be for modern technical teams.
