Central to Age of Chains was the GUARDIANCARD, the first NFT in the series, minted October 30, 2016, as Series 1, Card 001, titled Woodcoins Guardian. Limited to 777 units, with 267 sold and none burned. Potentially the first subasset NFT on Counterparty, it represented defense of Woodcoin principles in the games narrative. As of November 2025, ageofchains.com hosts updates on NFT development, with cards traded on Scarce City, where sets command premiums. Presale volumes equated to millions in 2016 terms, underscoring early ambition. Age of Chains and the GUARDIANCARD demonstrated NFTs potential for immersive narratives beyond speculation, influencing later titles like Gods Unchained. They captured 2016 innovation in Berlin’s blockchain scene, offering collectors a tangible link to gaming’s decentralized origins.
