Tonight @SheffLabour Councillors joined members of Sheffield’s Jewish community, alongside Rabbi Golomb, to light the menorah in the city centre and mark Hanukkah. At a time when anti-Jewish hatred is sadly on the rise, and with the recent atrocities in Manchester and Sydney still fresh in our minds, this hatred must never be tolerated. We stand in solidarity with our Jewish communities in Sheffield and beyond, and recommit ourselves to eradicating antisemitism wherever it appears.

It is not acceptable that car parking companies use land within Sheffield to set up their illegal car parking, cheating motorists into thinking they are leaving their vehicles in places where all the proper checks have been adhered to. As a council, we are not against there being car parks in the city but they must go through the proper channels, including obtaining planning permission, before they are opened to the public. I am determined to rid Sheffield of these illegal car parks and I’m delighted to see that the one on Fitzwilliam Street has taken note of its enforcement notice and closed down thestar.co.uk/news/politics/…

Each year we stand at the Cenotaph in Barker’s Pool to remember all those who serve and have serve in our Armed Forces — including those from around the world who stood together to defend our democracy and freedoms, and made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇬🇧

Hi @CadentGasLtd — you’ll know this location well, we spoke to you today about it as a city council. We’re busy telling you to hurry up. We’re now introducing new measures to hold you and other utility firms to account and get issues fixed faster. People in Sheffield are tired of sitting in traffic — it’s bad for our economy while you keep posting profits. Time for better coordination and quicker action. All of this whilst Cadent made £438 million in profit last year and bills rise.
