Anger driven by the evil spirit will tend to distance me from the suffering and pretend I’m somehow ‘better than’ - i.e. evil begins/ends in self-centered pride.

The evil spirit here was characteristically more interested in shadow and silence than truth-telling. ‘God dammit’ anger seems an appropriate prayer in this moment. Evil spirit should be told to go back to hell.
