Let’s be brutally honest, for decades, people in positions of power have abused vulnerable children in our care system and walked away without a single criminal investigation. Paedophiles shielded by their status and connections. Children and young people silenced, disbelieved, and abandoned by the very state that was supposed to protect them. This isn’t history. It’s still happening — across the country. Power to the people. #changeiscoming

I am calling on @Calderdale Council to issue a full and public apology to the survivors of Skircoat Lodge Children's Home in Halifax. Too many survivors have already died without receiving the recognition, justice, and apology they deserved. It must never happen again.

What a journey this has been. For the last three years, I’ve campaigned relentlessly alongside my friend and colleague Terry Galloway to make care experience a protected characteristic. Not because it’s easy — but because it’s right. The movement is growing. The momentum is real. And we are not stopping. We’ll keep going until every young person in the care system has the protection, dignity, and respect they deserve. 2026 will be bigger. Louder. Better. #ChangeIsComing

Justice has finally been served — but it came far too late for the hundreds of children who suffered at the hands of predators working at Skircoat Lodge Children's Home in Halifax. Far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir declared that about 100 Israeli doctors told him they were willing to administer lethal injections to Palestinian prisoners if executions were approved. The World Medical Association condemned the statement as “disgusting,” while major human rights groups and the head of doctors’ union rejected the proposed bill. Ben-Gvir added: “We all came with this pin, one of the options to implement the death penalty law. There’s the possibility of hanging, the electric chair, and also anaesthesia. Since doctors said they won’t assist, I’ve received 100 messages from doctors saying, ‘Itamar, just tell us when.’”

Labour are lost. Happy to punch down. Labour have never read or understood the social model of disability. If they read it they would understand why schemes like this are required.. but deliberate ignorance means convenient ableist policy. Wealth tax? No, crush the disabled.

@labourlewis I did predict this government was going to be surprisingly authoritarian but they've shocked me. They're making the Tories look like hippies. Arresting vicars for holding signs, blocking internet access, giving everyone an ID. Pretty dystopian really.

@DCPcampaign Very worrying indeed. It does not look good for parents and disabled children/adults from an education, health and social care perspective.
