The Sameer Project@sameerproject
As millions of Muslims around the world answer the sacred call of pilgrimage, there are Muslims in Gaza living another kind of sacrifice. Their days are not filled with preparation for Hajj, travel, or celebration. Their days are filled with hunger, displacement, grief, and survival.

While many stand in worship on holy land, families in Gaza stand in lines for water, for food, and for the chance to make it through another day together.
The people of Gaza are living through scarcity that most of us cannot imagine, yet they continue to turn to Allah. They continue to pray. They continue to make du’a. They continue to share what little they have and place their trust in Allah while facing circumstances that would break most people.
We speak often about sacrifice during these sacred days, but what does sacrifice mean when families have already lost their homes, their livelihoods, their safety, and their loved ones? Gaza is paying the ultimate price for all of us.
On May 24, The Sameer Project distributed meals to Silwan Camp. A total of 310 Thai sandwiches were prepared and distributed to this area, the total cost after bank commission of 11% of was $838.
These food distributions are themselves acts of worship through service.
As pilgrims are performing Hajj, remember those in Gaza whose worship today looks like patience, perseverance, and the ultimate faith.
