@Hitchslap1 In your view, why is it that firstborn children tend to have higher IQs, and achieve more in life than later born siblings?

If nurture, nutrition and education play a big role in intelligence, why do siblings have such vastly different IQ scores? Think about it.

You insist that there is something a machine cannot do. If you tell me precisely what it is a machine cannot do, then I can always make a machine which will do just that. (John von Neumann)

@XiXiDu Why are you a leftist then if you believe in technology? The left hates technology and centrist liberals want to regulate and ban it.

@MoreBirths Robotics will likely make population basically irrelevant to GDP. In the past GDP was basically = to population. Today they are less and less correlated and in the future there will be no correlation between population and GDP.

China is desperate to reverse its plunging fertility rate (0.93 in 2025), but to change its culture, it will have to publicly come to terms with its disastrous One-Child Policy, which only ended in 2016. One consequence is a severe shortage of women of childbearing age. Thread!

The Long Shadow of China's One Child Policy China's one-child policy is over. Yet the fertility in China keeps falling, and was just 1.02 births per woman in 2023. A look at China's history of brutal population control, and how echos of past policies reverberate today. 🧵.

@MisesChair @jeremykauffman @RonPaul Atheism doesn't necessarily result in rationality but religion necessarily results in irrationality. Its hard to be rational, very easy to be irrational. Even rationality doesn't guarantee success, different terminal values will result in different equally rational conclusions.

@MisesChair @jeremykauffman @RonPaul If people stopped believing others had souls we could finally execute rapists, murders, thieves etc. Instead we are told to forgive the unforgiveable by Christians and Psuedo-Christians (leftists).

Once you pick up on how many people in the AI debate are implicitly assuming humans have souls or are otherwise magic, a lot of bad critiques of AI as it exists start to make a lot more sense.

Writers on human interiority: "I would like bacon for breakfast." Writers on AI interiority: "Deep within a cluster of GPUs, a million matrix ops raise a thread to the surface ..." Writers on humans, as if AI: "Deep within the folded tissue of the neocortex, a synapse fires - "
