@tombennett71 If the people holding schools to account, inclusion services, are only focusing on met need, SEND has now become a certainty if behaviour and decisions are poor.

In a classroom, if a student tells the teacher to f*** off, what unmet need is present? For a start it seems nearly impossible to discern. We can barely discern our own motives, if at all. We want teachers to do this, *while* teaching, without any training or telepathy?

We ‘need’ to stop seeing misbehaviour as always emerging from a mysterious unmet ‘need’. Because not all misbehaviour does, and responding to it like that’s true often leads us into terrible errors of practice.

@tombennett71 A serious concern is that this is not the rhetoric that behaviour leads are experiencing. In fact, itnis exactly what you are saying ahould not happen. EVERY, conversation when discussing student behaviour externally starts with, ‘what is their unmet need’
