Not really. Talking to the other side can generate results. There’s a reason Josh Stein’s solicitor general hasn’t been confirmed to the 4th Circuit despite Dems controlling the Senate. The Biden admin has been screaming about Tillis blocking the nominee despite being in the minority party since he’s been able to whip Dem votes against and call their bluff.

Democrats act in bad faith, and voters expect results from elected Republicans - there's the rub. Tillis has no juice in DC, and it shows.
His penchant for going after Trump and other beloved elected Republicans, as well as North Carolina's base voters, pisses me off.

He was not involved in the negotiations and wasn’t responsible for a word of the bill text. Only 3 senators negotiated this bill. Tillis has negotiated on the border with Dems before, and he has walked away from the negotiating table because Dems were never serious about enforcement. This included during the Trump admin, when bipartisan negotiations collapsed and the Senate voted on 3 bills, including the Trump border bill that Tillis helped write along with Grassley, Cotton, Perdue, and others.

The problem is that Tillis is in the middle of nearly every bill that allows illegals to pour over our border and receive preferential treatment to Americans.

He never supported the bill. He supported negotiations to see what Republicans could get from Democrats. The devil is in the details and the bill text had many fatal flaws, including a loophole to let Biden ignore all enforcement provisions, making everything toothless. Problem is the negotiations went on for months, and senators didn’t have details until the final bill text was released. Not a good process.
