1/x Hospital ships have been in the news recently. While we often associate hospital ships with the military, there are also civilian hospital ships. I would like to introduce you to the Global Mercy, the largest civilian hospital ship in the world.

Boarded a well-run ship today and found a surprise at the top of the pilot ladder. The step (~8 kN) took the load while the side ropes (≥24 kN) were secured away from it-non-compliant with SOLAS V/23 and IMO A.1045(27). The “why” matters as much as the “what.” #DangerousLadders
