Most people who call themselves liberals aren’t.
Classical liberalism means individual rights, free markets, limited government, free speech, and equality before the law.
That describes the American right. Not the American left.
The left believes the group outweighs the individual. Government should engineer outcomes. Speech should be regulated. Race should be central to policy.
And the West should be deconstructed.
That’s not liberalism. That’s a different ideology with a borrowed name.
Here’s what liberalism actually looks like.
Free speech — including speech you hate. Equal treatment under law regardless of race. Limited government. Free markets. Western civilization as something worth defending.
If that’s what you believe, you’re a liberal.
You’re just not welcome in the party that took the word.
