This morning, I joined the Wigwe's family, friends, my brother-governors, and top Nigerian business owners to pay our last respects to the late Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son, Chizi, in Isiokpo town, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. It was a solemn moment at the funeral service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo as emotions overtook me when the remains of my dear brother and friend, Herbert, that of his wife and son, were brought into the church. Nigeria has lost a worthy son of the Niger Delta, a consummate banker, a bold investor and a philanthropist. He truly lived a life of impact. Again, I do offer my condolences to the entire Wigwe family for this painful and irreplaceable loss!

We are saddened to learn about the passing of Dr. Sónia Maciel, a 2008 AWARD Fellow from Mozambique. Sónia was an active AWARD Fellowships alumni community member, utilizing the leadership skills she learned at AWARD to mentor her teams and the communities she worked with.
