This morning, I received with sadness the news of the passing of our father and foremost leader of Ijaw ethnic nationality, Chief (Dr.) Senator Edwin Kiagbodo Clark. The Ijaw nation has lost its father-figure and irrepressible voice. Chief Clark was an icon, a treasure of inestimable value and a nationalist par excellence. He was a distinguished patriot, who dedicated his whole life to the service of Nigeria. Until the very end, he was unrelenting. As the Ijaw nation reflects on the passage of this exceptional sage, we take solace in his matchless contributions to national development. On behalf of the Ijaw nation, the government and people of Bayelsa State, I express heartfelt condolences to the Clark family of Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area and the Delta State government. I pray the Lord grants the family and indeed the Ijaw nation the grace to bear this great loss. His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and I, are truly the Miracle Deputy Governor and Governor respectively. And as we celebrate our 5th year in office, we again acknowledge the hand of God in our emergence and in the life of the Prosperity Administration. I am glad to extend invitation to our good people of Bayelsa State, friends and allies, to join us this morning at the Ecumenical Centre, Igbogene, for our 5th Anniversary Thanksgiving by 11am. We shall continue to rededicate Bayelsa State to Almighty God for the steady progress in the State.

I have just signed Bayelsa's 2023 Budget of N389,371,578,563.84 christened Budget of Sustainable Growth & Reconstruction with focus on infrastructure. I also signed the Contributory Pension Scheme law to manage retirees pensions & gratuities. It's a new dawn in our public service

We just delivered two key bridges in Bayelsa East - the historic Nembe Unity Bridge & Elebele Bridge for economic impact. Thanks to our leader, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR for honouring us with his presence. Together, we can build a greater, united and prosperous Bayelsa State.

I am waiting to receive my brother and friend, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, to join us in the 2nd anniversary of our government in Bayelsa State. He will do us the honour to inaugurate the brand new 4.5km Igbedi road in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Glory be to God for the gift of life on my birthday today, June 4th. My personal principles are against lavish birthday celebrations and so, I seize this opportunity to rededicate myself to the service of our dear state for peace, unity and prosperity. Thanks for your support.
