Our North Austin Prosper Center is moving into a church building this summer! We are working with the United Methodist Church to convert St. Mark UMC located on Braker Lane. The church closed last year due to declining attendance. Donations are needed. foundcom.org/donate

For family night at Southwest Trails Apartments, our Health Initiatives Team brought in a nutrition expert to share about the importance of a balanced diet, the best foods to eat and the ones to avoid. Afterward, residents received some really nice raffle prizes!

Foundation Communities wrapped up Black History Month Saturday by celebrating the two large murals at Norman Commons Apartments that honor the legacy of the East Austin Trail Riders. Learn more about Norman Commons at foundcom.org/norman-commons.

Here's a short sample of Susie Whisnant's storytelling talent. She had introduced students at Trails at Vintage Creek Learning Center to Amelia Bedelia, the storybook character who takes everything too literally. So, when it was time to wrap up her perfomance, she "rapped it up!"

At Foundation Communities are so lucky to have so many talented and dedicated volunteers. People like Susie Whisnant. Recently, we found Ms. Susie at our Trails at Vintage Creek Learning Center. She was portraying one of her favorite children's book characters, Amelia Bedelia.

🏀 Students at our M Station Learning Center got to hang out with two San Antonio Spurs players on the basketball court, which the Spurs and Self Financial refurbished. Throw in some new Nike's, t-shirts, a Supper Club and a field trip to the Spurs game at the Moody Center!

During the Juniper Creek Apartments Ribbon Cutting we also celebrated the new community receiving a 4-star rating from the Austin Energy Green Building program.

At the Juniper Creek Apartments Ribbon Cutting event, we heard some very supportive words from some of our largest funders - St. David's Foundation, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) and Wells Fargo.

We couldn't have built Juniper Creek Apartments without incredible financial support from our elected officials, including $9.5 million from Travis County. Also, $6.6 million from the City of Austin's Austin Housing Finance Corporation.

The most moving part of the Juniper Creek Apartments Ribbon Cutting was resident Tattoo Hernandez describing her family's journey to Foundation Communities. Flanked by her emotional support dog, Tattoo held back tears as she described the moment when they were welcomed home.

At the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Juniper Creek Apartments, Foundation Communities Executive Director Walter Moreau explained that residents of the affordable community will have access to an array of support services offered at our Laurel Creek community next door.

It's great to see the residents of our recently-opened Juniper Creek Apartments taking the short walk next door for the no-cost Healthy Food Pantry at Laurel Creek. The program is open to non-residents as well. Check out the monthly schedule at fchealth.info.
