🧑‍🤝‍🧑Staff members for our Prosper financial programs got their first look at their new workplace last week. You may have heard that we are moving our Prosper Center North this month to Braker Lane just east of N Lamar, the former location of St. Mark United Methodist Church.

🥝 A big part of the Summer Program for our on-site Learning Centers is field trips. Students from Daffodil Apartments visited the Central Texas Food Bank yesterday. They learned how the food bank grows, receives, sorts, stores and distributes various food items.

The incredible partnership between the corporate volunteers from Texas Mutual Insurance and the Learning Center at The Jordan at Mueller was on full display last Friday. The annual JAMboree water fun day brought volunteers and students together for food, snacks and summer fun.

😎 Summer Program is in full swing in our on-site Learning Centers. Earlier this week, Amber Walker, a Community Development Officer with Broadway Bank, visited the Sierra Vista Learning Center. She led activities that stress the importance of making good financial decisions.

The Summer Program in our 17 on-site Learning Centers is focused on exploration and innovation. This week, students at our Cardinal Point Learning Center spent time outside designing activities for a field day. It’s part of a Nickelodeon challenge. What a beautiful setting!

🍽️ Barbecue dinners with all the trimmings made for a flavorful Juneteenth party at our Waterloo Terrace. Music, games and prizes turned up the fun! This is a holiday residents really look forward to in all nine of our supportive communities for single adults.

Our Juneteeth celebration tour continues at Balcones Terrace, our newest supportive community for single adults. The freedom fest featured great music, great food and much more. Residents also walked away with great door prizes and prizes from games like Juneteenth trivia.

One of the best moments during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Party is when a Foundation Communities resident or client delivers a personal thank you message to the volunteers. Nolah Easterly from our M Station Learning Center did the honors with an honor roll-worthy speech!

On Friday, the entrepreneurial spirit was thriving at our Lakeline Station Learning Center. The students have been making products their classmates would love to buy. The Market Day activity teaches students about supply and demand, money management, hard work and creativity.

As we close Earth Month, we're highlighting an exciting sustainability project at two of our apartment communities in North Texas. Thanks to grant from Google, through Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute, two resilience hub systems are now converting and storing solar energy.

Foundation Communities is celebrating Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week, April 20–24, in partnership with the National AfterSchool Association (NAA). It’s a chance for us to say thank you to the talented and dedicated staff in our 16 Learning Centers. #APAW2026

On Saturday the annual 5k Color Run at the Sierras took place at our Sierra Vista Apartments. It’s the culmination of 8 weeks of training for 3rd – 5th graders from two of our Learning Centers. Students made their way around the course at times getting doused with colored powder!

💵 We have more major funders to recognize for helping us build Norman Commons Apartments - Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) for providing a $31.5 million tax-exempt bond, and $1.75 million from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas.

Wells Fargo helped Foundation Communities build Norman Commons with $19.2 million in loans. At our Ribbon Cutting, Chris Rios, a regional vice president with Wells Fargo, arrived with a HUGE check for $100,000 to support financial coaching and wraparound services for residents.

Norman Commons Apartments is co-owned by Foundation Communities and the City of Austin's AHFC nonprofit. We could not have built it without $8.86 million from the City. It was our pleasure to have the Mayor Pro Tem and the director of Austin Housing speak at our Ribbon Cutting.
