@VFTLpodcast @JackPittBrooke @JamesTMaw @jaydmharris @kvlmason Would be interested to see if they learn their lesson so maybe a potential sequel, too
English

@VFTLpodcast @JackPittBrooke @JamesTMaw @jaydmharris @kvlmason Random link back to my EngLish GCSE but - if we stay up - can we petition for a remake of An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley?
Inspector Goole represents ‘relegation’, Eva Smith/Daisy Renton represents Spurs and basically everyone else is the board
English

@fredgruff @NathanAClark Thanks Fred. I was actually waiting for someone to comment something like this.
English

@SkySportsPL @Carra23 Yawn - you shouldn’t be allowed to pick your friends or ex-teammates for these discussions
English

"His strength was he didn't have a weakness"
@Carra23 explains why Steven Gerrard is the best Premier League midfielder of all-time for him 💬
English

@AlasdairGold Once again, praise be to f*** we didn’t panic buy any reinforcements in the January window. Where would we be if we were left with more players than we ideally needed?
English

@TheSpursExpress @arevalo_martin Best of both worlds for Romero - no more Spurs AND he can be rested and ready to give his all to the national team.
English

🚨| Cristian Romero will be out for at least 5 weeks, meaning he’ll likely to miss the end of the Premier League season, but he’s expected to be fit in time for the World Cup with the Argentina National Team. @arevalo_martin

@FootballCliches @D_C_W @NickMiller79 Is there a hierarchy, given neither are worth the paper they’re written on? Gentlemen’s agreement feels more handy-shaky glassy-clinky cigary-smoky.
And is there a Ladies’ equivalent, or is the world of women’s football just a bit more grown up and sensible about these things?
English

@FootballCliches @D_C_W @NickMiller79 Spurs - allegedly - have (i) a ‘gentlemen’s agreement with Cristian Romero’ that he can leave if a good bid comes in and (ii) a ‘verbal agreement’ with Andy Robertson that he will join in the summer. What’s the difference between a verbal agreement and a gentlemen’s agreement?

Recording FOOTBALL CLICHES with @D_C_W & @NickMiller79 on Monday...
Let's have your questions, observations, official acts of football-linguistic protestation, footballers' names in things & anything else at all for the Adjudication Panel
Cheers!

@tehTrunk @Billie_T I love this video so much, it gets me every time. At the start, I am revelling in the pure joy of it all, but then by the end I am both angry and upset with the bastard in charge who is putting someone through hell with their bullshit.
Great metaphor for Spurs transfer windows.
English

Tottenham’s general recruitment policy:
Jack Pitt-Brooke@JackPittBrooke
One of the many strange things about Spurs is they’ve now hired two of this era’s most interesting attacking coaches within 3 years. And yet no-one would say the leadership is meaningfully committed to that sort of football, because they also appointed Frank and Tudor in between.
English

@Daily_Hotspur @FabrizioRomano Verbal agreement FC - we have a history with these, don’t we? Is it a step up or down from ‘Gentlemen’s Agreement’? Both as binding as the paper they’re written on
English

🚨 BREAKING from @FabrizioRomano:
#thfc have a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson in June 2026.
The agreement is dependent on Spurs remaining in the Premier League.

@qikipedia Breaking a distance record previously held by Wetherspoons
English

@matthayesthfc Thank heavens for such an active January transfer window - we’d’ve been stuffed otherwise
English

@FootballCliches @Nozza_ That’s either ‘Game Set and Match’ or ‘Checkmate, I believe’. Absolute end game, mic drop, so long and thanks for everything…Julie. Newmar.

@mralistairgreen Yer Brown Willy, yer Wilsford cum Lake, yer Bell End
English

@anon_opin Or, you could just recruit people like Frankie Knuckles and David Guetta and rename the House of Lords as the Lords of House
English

@anon_opin I’d suggest it’s much more the case that parents are taking time off work (or WFH) to look after the kids during the holidays. It’s not the lack of school run that makes the difference, more the reduction in work commuting

Update: We've told our daughter she's welcome to stay the last week of January. The builders will be in all week so there's no hot water or heating but we hope she doesn't mind letting them in each morning. It would really help us out. Nothing beats Cornwall in winter. Hopefully the school won't mind the kids missing a few days.

Our lovely little holiday home in Cornwall. Our daughter asked if she could stay there with the kids this summer. Honey, we'd love to but it's booked on Airbnb all through August. £400 a night. We're not a charity. She earns £35,000 a year she can find a Travelodge.
