@CommonWealth_ca Whatever gets people to support it, I suppose, but I think policies should be selected based on desirable outcomes, not their origin story, nor arguments that the policy's wording meets some kind of poetic aptness.

One of the Founding Fathers of America, Thomas Paine, believed citizens should be paid dividends from the rent of land, which noone created. Today, Alaska sends cheques to everyone from their natural resources. And many believe we shouldn't tax hard work, but land instead.

@necropraxis I have wondered about maps of rules and how they connect (e.g. by modifying or using the same quantity, like hit points), and I wonder if software complexity metrics (e.g. "afferent coupling ") would produce insights about hackability.

@cdl_concerts We had a great time but that intro spiel was downright dystopian. A "platform for accessible entertainment experiences" which is then performed by musicians without surnames feels like something crafted for investors, not audiences. Super weird.

This is one of the biggest numbers you can find in a physics paper. It's the expected distance one would travel before encountering another visible-universe-sized region of space with an identical quantum state as ours.

Some people sleep. I find myself watching The Secret of NIMH for the 700th time, wondering how many olives is too many and whether or not I should stop drinking this iced coffee.

Question for the OSR and beyond, does any game do high level domain play well? If so, what do you like about it?

@riseupcomus Literally it's the step before you move it into a more permanent form, carefully transcribing it from delicate parchment onto something tougher like your vellum spellbook.

@riseupcomus The form of 'scroll' that I like is this: 1. You sneak into the temple of whatsit, whose blasphemous priests are known to have supernatural power 2. On their altar are the dread runes etched by the spirits they pledged their souls to that explain how 3. Brass rubbing, baby!

I hate scrolls. What pulp fantasy thing are they even trying to emulate? Where did they come from?

Just watched The Night Eats the World (2018) and it's remarkably like Project Zomboid in movie form. It's like The Quiet Earth, just with infected trying to kill you. I enjoyed it!

@jasoncordova6 The two-person game of musical chairs at the basketball game seemed an odd choice until I realized there were probably a half a dozen producers dying with embarrassment at their great idea flopping around in a sad little circle in front of everyone.

The four entertaining couples bailing early and leaving us with the two boring ones to fill a whole-ass wedding day episode is a crime.
