@BruvverEccles @danielmgmoylan Which is why genuine amends should be implemented and not just a ludicrous 'numbers filling' exercise so it runs out if time and falls. Those seven have an awful lot to answer for and will be complicit in many thousands suffering a needlessly awful end to life.

Questions being asked why the #AssistedDying Bill ran out of time in @UKHouseofLords? Fairly simple - the Bill was badly drafted & the real concerns raised by professionals, which we, as Members translated into amendments to address the flaws, were met with “No, I don’t agree” by the Bill’s sponsor @LordCFalconer each week during committee stage. Such a complex Bill should never be a PMB - the resources of government are necessary for full pre-legislative scrutiny. I write as somebody not opposed to the concept, but opposed to the lack of safeguards in this Bill. Hence, because of their intransigence, they lost me. I doubt I was alone.

In what universe did the proponents of the assisted suicide Bill think, “Hey, we can do this despite the detailed objections of every single medical Royal College”? In today’s debate many of them were in blank denial about this opposition. Political stupidity.

@Wozzo22 @danielmgmoylan Correct - it is about all of us who have a terminal illness and face an awful ending. It doesn't involve anybody else if genuine amends are addressed and not just used as an excuse to block the whole thing.

@BruvverEccles @danielmgmoylan Not suicidal presently as still have some (albeit severely restricted) 'quality of life'. However i should have the right to choose my own end rather than commit a lonely suicide whilst still able or have to face a long painful and degrading death.

@JayNo66322 @zatzi The Lord's are there to give advice and make amends not to just 'play games' to deliberately obstruct. What seven of them have done is (temporarily) autocratic. Anyway potentially updated Parliament Act next time so they'll have to behave honourably and discuss GENUINE concerns.

@gray_nige @zatzi If you had an elected second chamber you would have gridlock as per the USA. It would be no check or balance at all. Having a second chamber in no way means autocratic rule, I am not sure you know what a private member's bill is.

I also have that to 'look forward' to in time (unless i commit a lonely and potentially awful suicide). Is that something you have to 'look forward' to?
