@TheChaosWeeber The blue line has another big problem, it cuts through the part of Frontenac park that has lots of lakes and rivers. If a train were to pass there, lots of bridges would have to be built adding extra costs. The red line is cheaper and serves way more people

@TheChaosWeeber Maybe if Trudeau didn’t blow $13B on overseas gender programs we’d have the money to build some …

hey Canada, notice how many 3rd world countries have high speed rail. FFS we're beating beaten by Morocco, Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Indonesia etc. and Algeria, India, Iran, and Egypt all have plans to build HSR. You really are ok with canada falling THAT far behind?

@lcasrs “Prospect like Wyttenbadh” you sound like a 13 year old me hyping up Nick Jensen and Jordan Schroeder. You’re just a fan boy that doesn’t follow other teams in the NHL.

Calgary lost Tkachuk/Gaudreau in 2022, it’s not 2026 and their best young piece is Zayne Parekh. Van started their rebuild in Dec 2025 and already has a better young piece in Zeev. Imagine taking victory laps about guys like Matt Coronado in year 4 of a rebuild 😭
Mike Gould@miketgould

The difference is that the Canucks were already really bad pretty much every year they had Hughes. They only made the playoffs twice when they had him, whereas the Flames have had farther to fall. Now, we're here, and Calgary has a significantly better pool of future assets.

@59years_of_gray If they're entirely private, how does that help us? Why should private companies get rich off resources that belong to Canada?

So, building high speed rail is "the west subsidizing" the east.... But, building a pipe line isn't the opposite? Also, this isn't remotely how taxation works. We don't pay "per person" for projects.
Paul Mitchell@PaulMitchell_AB

Ottawa wants to spend $90 Billion on high-speed rail between Toronto and Quebec City. That's $4000 out of the pocket of every Canadian taxpayer to fund something that 99% will never use. As usual, Western Canadians will be paying to subsidize Ontario and Quebec. Insanity.

@gator_gum Pipelines would be built with private money if the government would ever get out of its own way

@JeffreyLuscombe Wasting $90B on it while people can’t find doctors or work or afford food or housing is what gets Conservatives’ blood boiling. Though you don’t care about any of that, do you? This could be structured as a PPP and make way more sense. It’s not some righteous infallible plan.

@latestinspace Wish they would’ve put a camera facing downward/behind on the rocket and live-streamed the entire journey. Surely we have the technology. Would help prove the flat earth and firmament idiots wrong too

@RodKahx They didn’t resign in the sense you’re suggesting. They committed major fraud and corruption, then slithered on to greener pastures before the slow, dumb majority of Canadians who support the liberal regime could notice. You, being especially slow, STILL haven’t noticed.

@THudson59618056 @chalupe93 @HTBF1968 SNC-Lavalin interference, WE Charity contract, Aga Khan trip ethics breach, ArriveCAN cost overruns, F35 flip flopping, green slush fund, shady Brookfield deals, carbon tax lies, ethics violations rulings, housing/immigration policy disaster, blackface. I could go on.

I'm trying to find the exact moment the Liberals discovered they could just announce things, do literally nothing to fulfill the thing, and nobody would care.

@aidenwpkenny It’s not the train it’s the (minimum) $90B price tag when millions of Canadians can’t afford food, can’t find jobs, can’t get a family doctor, can’t see a specialist for months, and can’t buy a home.

@TheMingjie Ask the government who proposed alto in the first place for a plan to make it cost half as much, and then ask them why that wasn’t their plan in the first place.

I am very tired of people continuously telling us we can’t have nice things. Give us a plan to build Alto for half the price (or offer alternatives for non-driving infrastructure!), not cancel it altogether. Leaders must lead with aspiration, not trepidation, for the future.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Pierre Poilievre on the Toronto–Quebec City High-Speed Rail Network: "Conservatives oppose the $90b Liberal-Alto train ... a future Conservative government will cancel this $90b boondoggle altogether."
