Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions - also known as the fake news - have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up.
The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not.
And frankly, changing course is in their own business interests since trust in legacy media has now fallen to an all time low of just 9% and are ratings disasters.
The American people have subsidized broadcasters to the tune of billions of dollars by providing free access to the nation’s airwaves.
It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news.
When a political candidate is able to win a landslide election victory after in the face of hoaxes and distortions, there is something very wrong. It means the public has lost faith and confidence in the media. And we can’t allow that to happen.
Time for change!

This exchange just happened on the Senate floor.
Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.”
Durbin: “Happy to explain. Driver’s licenses don’t qualify under the bill. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.”
Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?”
Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?”
Silence.
The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote.
50% of Americans don’t have a passport.
The people least likely to have passports: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters.
The people most likely to have passports: wealthy Americans.
This is not voter protection.
This is voter selection.
And when a senator suggested fixing it — his own colleague couldn’t name the last time the Senate amended anything.
That’s the Senate in 2026.

@ijones @Fatal_Mishap @PhilMccoxwell @allenanalysis The save act requires states to have systems in place for people who cannot show documentation. Ie if someone doesn’t show documents, CA must show they have documents on record proving citizenship. Instead of trusting a checkbox anyone can lie on

@Lov_zs @Fatal_Mishap @PhilMccoxwell @allenanalysis P.S. People with AB60 driver's licenses (unable to prove legal residence in the US) are not eligible to check-box register to vote. The affadavit is not available in that instance. And if you are here illegally you have to get an AB60 license.

Time after time the point is made that the effort to solve it 100% (vs. today's 99.999%) results in a worse outcome because would result in far more legitimate voters being disenfranchised. The affadavit seems to work for CA.

But eventually a court will want to see the receipts. And more often than not, an election being "rigged" is a fact-free feeling experienced by sore losers.

I have to say one the of the most misleading comments on here are the “according to studies”….. “a source close to the matter” , “think tanks claim”. that’s like saying according to Cecil Davis in Little Rock….believes in Santa clause. Election fraud is absolutely rampant. Seriously. There is tons of counties where votes exceed registered voters, massing ballot dumps at 3am after polls close, illegal election certification, and last but the worst….. mail in voting. Democrats stole 2020 with every one of these tactics. Joe Biden, a geriatric fool, Obama stooge received 16 million more votes than the lefts Walk on Water Booorack BlowBama. It blows me away half the country beleives that bullshit claim there is almost no voter fraud.
