The Treaty of Versailles 107 years ago, on the 28 June 1919 the winning forces of WWI, The Great War, made Germany sign a treaty that was so ill conceived that it lead to the raise of Hitler and ultimately WWII, with devastating effects around the globe. In the aftermath of a new world order developed, lead by a beacon of democracy. Admired and envied, stood the US for 80 years as the leader of the free world. Presidents and world leaders like Eisenhower, Kennedy, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Obama made the world feel safe. America was, mostly, perceived as good and fair. Then came Donald Trump, a man keeping the only book he ever read, Main Kampf by Adolf Hitler, on his bedside table. A man so ignorant that he wouldn’t be able to point out Versailles on a map. This man, yesterday, signed another ill conceived treaty, at Versailles, 107 years ago, almost to the day. One would have hoped that someone in this man’s entourage could have told him about the historical significance and where it took the world. But there was no such man around and now the World will have to live with the results of the stupidest man on the planet’s attempt to save himself from utter embarrassment while Iran arms itself.

Italian Prime Minister Gigiorgia Meloni asked, over and over, for a picture with me during the G-7 meeting in France. She is doing poorly in Italy with her level of popularity, possibly because she turned down the United States of America, a Country that truly loves and protects Italy, when it came to denying Iran from obtaining or developing a Nuclear Weapon (But so did NATO, for that matter!). She wouldn’t even let us use Italy’s landing strips or runways, a great logistical inconvenience, and this despite the fact the U.S. contributes hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year to protect Italy, and other “so-called” NATO Allies. Now, after the United States defeated Iran militarily, she wants to be friends again in order to get her “numbers up.” No thanks!!! Trump told Leslie Stahl something years ago that everyone should hear. She asked Trump he kept calling the media fake news. He said, I do it because I need to discredit you, so that when you say negative things about me, nobody believes you. That is EXACTLY what he’s done. The problem everyone has with him is that most of us grew up with values, ethics, and integrity. That is not Donald Trump. He figured out a long time ago that he can bully his way through any rule and if he keeps pushing harder and harder, people will relent. For most of his life they did, but we must stand up against it.

Trump-Putin Submission The contrast is staggering. Belligerence toward Tehran, but total silence on Moscow. Trump rather acts as if on Kremlin’s orders. No new sanctions, no support for Ukraine’s borders, and zero pushback on Russian cyber-activity. When the president acts as a shield for the Kremlin, he’s not putting America first. #Putin #Geopolitics

NATO Breakup Meloni’s public rebuke at the G7 isn't just a diplomatic spat. When your most ideological ally in Europe calls you a liar on the world stage, the alliance is dead in the water. Trump isn't "negotiating" better terms; he's handing Europe to Russia on a silver platter. #NATO #G7

🇮🇹🇺🇸 Alyssa Pavia — an Italian expert on international relations and geopolitics, and a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington: "What really lies behind the rift between Trump and Meloni, and why it has been building for a long time. The latest conflict between Donald Trump and Giorgia Meloni stems from Meloni's gradual shift toward more moderate, centrist, and pro-European positions since coming to power. Despite the long-standing ideological affinity between their political movements, Meloni has increasingly adopted positions that conflict with Trump's MAGA ideology. Contrary to the expectations of many observers, Meloni did not distance herself from Europe. On the contrary, on most key foreign policy issues she embraced a distinctly pro-European stance. This increasingly irritated Trump, who has long viewed the European Union as a failed political project and a constraint on national sovereignty. The clearest example is Ukraine. From the very beginning of her premiership in October 2022, Meloni repeatedly reaffirmed Italy's unwavering support for Kyiv, continuing military assistance despite doubts voiced by influential members of her governing coalition. One of the first major foreign policy decisions of the Meloni government was to extend authorization for arms deliveries to Ukraine through the end of 2023. This decision was made despite resistance from important coalition partners, including Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia party and Matteo Salvini's League. When Trump returned to the White House, Meloni quickly signaled her willingness to work with him. However, she never retreated from her support for Ukraine, despite Trump's increasingly harsh rhetoric toward President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his criticism of Western aid to Kyiv. During her appearance at the CPAC conference in 2025, Meloni surprised many MAGA supporters when she praised Italy's efforts to defend threatened democracies, including Ukraine. These remarks came amid growing tensions between Trump and Zelenskyy. Meloni's position on Ukraine did not go unnoticed. Although Trump continued to speak positively about her in public, disagreements over the war revealed a growing divide between the two leaders on one of the most significant geopolitical issues of our time. Ukraine, however, was far from the only point of disagreement. During trade negotiations with the United States, Meloni also firmly sided with Europe, advocating a unified European Union approach rather than pursuing a separate bilateral agreement with Washington. Her government consistently placed European unity above other considerations, even when doing so risked straining relations with the White House. The real test of the relationship, however, came with the American military operation against Iran. While several European leaders expressed concern about escalating tensions, Meloni joined calls for restraint and questioned the extent to which Italy should support U.S. military actions connected to the conflict. Reports that Rome was reconsidering the use of military bases located in Italy for certain operations further increased tensions. For Trump, who was already facing criticism over his decision to strike Iran, disagreement from a politician widely regarded as one of his closest allies in Europe was an especially unwelcome surprise."
