@MichaelAArouet Taxes don't pay for government spending. The purpose of taxes is to prevent the economy from overheating. Government squeezes the wealthy middle because it is easy and they can without offending the majority.

Things are really out of balance when someone earning £10k and someone earning £140k take home the same net amount. No wonder so many hard-working people and entrepreneurs are leaving Britain. Would you want to live in a country that punishes your hard work and jobs creation?
