I've looked at the early vote figures for Virginia's April 21 referendum on Democrats' 10-1 gerrymander proposal. Lots of different variables at play than a typical election, but if you ran the same model I ran in past elections, the early vote would currently be sitting at: 🔵Dem: 58.06% 🔴GOP: 41.94% This is about 1.5% to the Right of where we were in the early vote this time out from the 2025 gubernatorial election. But the problem is, this formula probably won't carry over exactly to this election. For starters, we don't know how swing voters will break on this question, nor do we know how many modeled Democrats might actually vote No (almost certainly more than modeled GOP voters will break Yes). So far, things are trending in the right direction, but that by no means suggests that a No vote will prevail. I'll continue to track the early vote figures, but it's going to be extremely difficult to model this referendum with a high degree of accuracy.

Never leave your loved one alone in the hospital. Every hour you are allowed to be there, if you are able to, I highly recommend being there. Be perfectly cordial with staff. But watch over everything like a hawk. Trust me on this.
