I am delighted to announce that my new book, “Rage and the Republic: The Unfinished Story of the American Revolution,” is now #2 on the New York Times Bestsellers list for nonfiction. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has bought the book... jonathanturley.org/2026/02/12/rag…

I have taught defamation for over 30 years, but I have never seen the like of the Hunter Biden defamation case. The $1.7 million award consisted of just $1 in nominal damages and the rest in punitive damages. It only got weirder from there. jonathanturley.org/2026/07/13/the…

...Calla Walsh, 21, has stepped forward as a type of Tehran Rose, cutting propaganda videos for one of the most blood-soaked regimes in the world. Walsh appeared at the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and praised him as the “greatest anti-imperialist leader.”

They are the enfants terribles of the American left, young influencers rallying to the cause of America's enemies...and they are being replicated in the thousands in our educational system. The question is whether some have strayed into criminal conduct...jonathanturley.org/2026/07/13/teh…

...The term “well regulated” was not a reference to regulation in the contemporary sense. It was used to mean orderly or well-maintained. A well-regulated militia meant state militias that were combat-ready.

James Talarico makes a curious argument in favor of banning certain firearms in a recently disclosed videotape. He claims that the term "well-regulated" in the Second Amendment invited such gun control laws. He is manifestly wrong... jonathanturley.org/2026/07/12/wel…

...People either loved or hated Lindsey, but few had the chance to know him. He was a warm and fascinating man. He stepped forward to enter the fray in defense of the values that he held most dear. Thank you, Lindsey, and rest in peace.

...What I will miss most was his humor. Lindsey had a puckish side and looked at much of the insanity on the Hill with a sense of exasperated levity.  He was often frustrated by the lack of progress in the Senate and would joke about it being the "most deliberative body" with a certain irony. His jokes would often be self-deprecating, downplaying his considerable skills and gifts...

I am in Chautauqua, New York for a book event this week and was shocked to wake up to learn that Lindsey Graham has died at 71. I knew and worked with Lindsey since his time in the House of Representatives.  His death is a great loss for our nation... jonathanturley.org/2026/07/12/the…

The Hill is out with my column on "enfants terribles" of the American Left, radicals who appeared at the funeral of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei or supported the Iranian cause. They are examples of today's radical chic in the media and higher education. thehill.com/opinion/nation…

...He omitted the word following "Well regulated": "militia." It did not mean regulations, but rather a proficient, fully capable militia. Now if only Talarico could support a well-read amendment as well as a well-regulated militia...

...The absence of active members creates an obvious power vacuum, as the Commission rules require an affirmative vote by at least three commissioners to conduct official business. However, critics are likely to note that the EAC has long been moribund even with living members.
